Does ring generalship exist?

The thread titles the quick question for the boxing fanatics. I love this game to death but they've been pissing me off lately giving the CPU the decision wins on a consistent basis.

They're getting straight 10s across the board and I'm clearly outboxin em flat out, but I'm gettin straight 9s. What? ****boy CPU been cheatin tha **** outta me the last couple of fights, no lie.

Seriously, I have absolutely no problems with losing matches..thats IF I lose it fairly, I will take the loss. I get through a match like, oh yeah I got this one. Peoples, I'm fully confident that I won the match. WRONG. This has happened many times in a row.

Without seeing stats, it is hard to tell or give an opinion.

But as a whole, ring generalship, thank god, is not as emphasized as it once was in judge scoring...

Yea, Ive won a round 10-8 without stunnng or knocking my opp down, he throw 20 punches that round and connected 25% while I throw 68 and connected 32%

No offense but ring generalship is crap. It's a term that began after the media got used to Tyson imposing his will on countless opponents. Truth is many a fighters have mastered controlling fights by going backwards, sticking and moving, counter-punching and using his opponent's forward motion against him.

Guys like Sweet Pea Whitaker, Hector Camacho, PBF, JMM, Roy Jones Jr, and most recently Cotto are brilliant at it. But media types and fair weather fans talk about guys getting on their bikes, or running, when in reality they are brilliant tacticians. It's really an art of war IMHO.

And the way the parry system in this game works- some CPU opponents are content with letting you set the pace, come forward, initiate the exchanges. If you are connecting at a 35% or less clip and keep getting countered it shouldn't matter that you are coming forward and setting the pace i.e, exhibiting "Generalship"

Why are your punch percentages so low? Granted, its realistic, but I tend to land atleast 60% of my punches while the lowest I hold my opponent to (CPU or Human) to 40%.

The hit % seems to count quite a bit in the scoring. So if the cpu is landing a better %- then that could easily be the reason. Even if you are hitting more haymakers, punches, etc. I don't know the details of your fights but that could be the reason.

i made it so that you HAVE to pick your spots and work the jab because if not you will get countered and prolly stunned or even KD....

And my defense is pretty good now because all I play on is GOAT

It dont have a hugh advantage tho because I won a decision(no KD) when I landed 35% while the CPU landed 42%....I threw more punches and landed more head shots tho

also won a match when the CPU threw 100 more punches than I did but had a horrible hit %(I beleive it was 31% vs my 45%)

A little off topic but in an online match the judges scored a round in my favor 10-8, 10-8, 9-10.
That's right, there were no knockdowns and one judge gave the round to my opponent.
ME---------58-69--84%
Opponent --71-132--53%
He outlanded me in uppercuts 34-11 and straights 25-24, while I had the edge in hooks 12-7. Interesting diversity in scoring.

It does exist but not sure its properly applied. There are many times you can see a fighter controlling the action in the ring. The problem is its been used to give guys a round/fight when they have not earned it. That is the frustrating part. When you see a guy that earned a win but is robbed by some mysterious thing called 'ring generalship'. Ring generalship plays out in the stats by either increased connect rates or decreased connect rates of the opposing fighter.

Sweet Pea was the definition of ring generalship. Its slipping punches, its adjusting in a fight, its taking advantage of weaknesses.

not true, it's more than a term

by definition it means the ability of a boxer to dictate the pace, style and tactics of a fight.......and it's actually part of the judges criteria in scoring a fight, and it has been long before tyson.

I can never get the CPU to punch for under 40%.
