Your right, we found out about Vargas, and again, I'd say he dared to be great. Now, why don't we find out about Floyd? I understand Paul Williams is a bad buisness move but ducking Mosley? That's a slap in the face to those who believe in Floyd.

How is Floyd ducking Mosley? Mosley turned him down years ago.

cuz Mosley went into the ring and to dudes face called him out. You get called out in person in front of a giant PPV audience by a champion, and you still don't want to fight him?? The definition of ducking.
Floyd saw what Mosley did to Margharito, Floyd is scared of him.

Yeah but he can also look at what Cotto did to him and what Forrest, and Winky did to him. When was the last time Mosley beat a pure boxer. Margarito wasn't a surprise, he was tailer made for Mosley.

What are they to do? The only thing they can do is continue to fight mandatories and the best challengers out there - which they have been.
Also, I don't remember the last time the Klitscho's hand-picked a cruiserweight over-and-over again to fight.

Floyd only had to wait 24 hours, after the Pacman-Hatton fight, before challenging Pacquio. Instead he hand-picked a fighter that was 17 pounds lighter than him.
He's avoiding Williams like the plague. He wants no part of a rejuvenated Mosley.
And I don't believe he wants anything to do with Cotto now that he's grown into a 147-pound body.

Like Rugger said, Floyd's a great talent and a great fighter. But he's not a great champion. Fight the best. Better yet, fight the best at your weight.
Floyd's probably a natural jr. Middleweight now. Seeing as how he refused to re-weight himself the night of the Marquez fight, I'd say he tipped the scales close between 155-160.
Challenge Winky. Challenge Williams. Challenge Cintron.

It'll never happen. He sees nothing wrong with picking on smaller fighters. But ironically he doesn't see why he should fight a bigger opponent.

I'll say it till the day I die. If Floyd won the lottery he'd never step through the ropes again. He cares nothing for the sport of boxing or being the best. His only motivation is being rich.
I at least have to give him credit for changing his nickname to 'Money'. At least he's not trying to hide his true intentions anymore.

I want to add that I greatly respect your opinion Complex. Having met you, I think you're a very cool guy and know you're stuff. It was a pleasure making your acquaintance.
I think this is a case where you, and myself, are allowing our personal feelings for Floyd cloud our judgment of where he really stands.
It's probably somewhere in between my opinion and yours.
Money, me and you are good, no worries.

I hear what everyone is saying but the guys being named are easy wins for Floyd. I have no doubt in my mind that Floyd beats Cintron, Clottey, and Mosley with ease. Neither has the right tools or mentality to beat Floyd. Clottey makes it interesting but he has lost 2 of this top 3 opponents (Cotto and Margarito). So he doesn't make it easy on himself. Cintron lost to Margarito twice, badly.

I mean the pot of opponents is not there. Sure Floyd is on a paper chase, I don't blame him. I wish the 147 picture was more clear but its not.

I totally agree. I think Floyd would beat all of those guys too.

But right now, there's only one fight the world wants to see. I hope it happens.
              Cheers!

                +1

Don't want to see Mayweather chasing around 19-year old no-bodies... if he's going to fight someone, fight someone worthwhile.

When Mosley could have helped Floyd get paid he did not oblige him. Was Mosley a coward then? Now that Floyd is in a position to help Mosley get paid he is supposed to agree? I'd say screw him too. Why help him out?

Leonard did essentially the same thing to Hagler when he retired and didn't fight him but then came out of retirement and begged for a fight with Hagler when Marvelous was top dog. Part of me wished that Hagler turned him down when he had the chance and retired just like Ray did him.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Me too Money. Hagler got straight robbed. Atleast he cashed out royally after that fight.

I don't blame him for retiring after that. But like you said, at least he left rich and with his brains intact.

And Mosely would never get a fight from me if I was Floyd...hes looking for a farewell check and I wouldnt give it to him. Its a lose-lose. He beats him, "he was old", he loses, the world then throws an 'Anti-Floyd parade'.

                            It's a conundrum that Floyd's created though.
The last few years he's fought mainly guys much smaller than him, forcing them to come up to him.
Mosley's not smaller, but Floyd's created a perception of hand-picking flawed opponents.

Fighting Pac is a good start to rebuilding respect amongst boxing fans.

So many people are calling Mayweather out for dodging fighters. One of those fighters happens to be Sugar Shane Mosley. So I don't think people will be pulling out the "he was old" card after Mayweather beats him ... or else they would just look stupid.
