Re: Whats worse! The Round 3 Parry are the Mulitple Counter Windows in Round 4?
I like counter windows, but they should be natural (the 2 down the pipe when the other guys is reared back - happens in FNR4, but rarely), 50-75% smaller. At the same time the perfect block should be eliminated except on haymakers (if they keep them, ugh) and blocking from high to low should be sped up so that is is at fast, if not faster than punching high to low.
The punching from high to low and in reverse being faster than blocking in the same manner is part of what causes this game to be unrealistic with the high connect percentages.Comment

Re: Whats worse! The Round 3 Parry are the Mulitple Counter Windows in Round 4?
I think the counter works but the ability to take a punch off of some of these counters and then the ability to get stunned from a weak counter is what kills it.
If you throw a haymaker and miss, then I counter with a full shot to your temple or midsection, you should hit the mat plain and simple.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Look at these counters, James Toney just capitalized off of John Ruiz's mistakes not freeze window.

- counterpunch: a return punch (especially by a boxer)
- anticipate: act in advance of; deal with ahead of time
- table consisting of a horizontal surface over which business is transacted
But serious, the boxer is anticipating the punch, thinking in advance and then returning what is usually a harder punch than what is being thrown at him. If you look at that last counter by Toney, it's very much like something you'd seen in FN4. There is the slightet pause there. Not as long as FN4's pause, but it's there.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Whats worse! The Round 3 Parry are the Mulitple Counter Windows in Round 4?
I just tried to have a good few fights online and it is hard to have an actually boxing match with all these gimmicky Counter Windows constantly open.
The windows really piss me off. Am I the only one that feels this way?Comment

Re: Whats worse! The Round 3 Parry are the Mulitple Counter Windows in Round 4?
there are people ( like me) who actually fight online without trying to exploit what can be exploited.. the window doesnt make it that easier for anybody ..you can counter a counter if you know how to....but yeah Poetic, that vid of Toney is exactly what im talking about..... he creates his windows...like in FN4Comment

Re: Whats worse! The Round 3 Parry are the Mulitple Counter Windows in Round 4?
Great example. It makes me think of the definition of counter...
- counterpunch: a return punch (especially by a boxer)
- anticipate: act in advance of; deal with ahead of time
- table consisting of a horizontal surface over which business is transacted
LOL..just messing

the pause you see there is not forced like it is in fight night, it happens because john ruiz is a lazy fighter and just didn't get his hands back into the guard position.
if they want to mimic a fighter not getting his hands back into a guard position after a punch then they need a new control scheme that would utilize the button press in a different way.
here is an idea, it borrows from the control scheme seen in football games when throwing different kinds of passes(tap=lob.hold=bullet or vice-verse).
-a tap of the button will result in light more pesky punches to the head or the body.
-a longer/harder press of the buttons will result in harder more damaging punches(your fighter will sit on his punches). the longer you hold the button the longer it will take for your arms to return to the guard/ready to strike position.
this will open up the door for more realistic fights complete with strategy and natural counters(no parry/counter window required).
combine these button combination's with stick movement.
i like this idea better than the one they have now because it gives more control to the player.Last edited by mr_president; 03-01-2010, 09:39 PM.Comment

and all EA did was show you the counter punch when that window pops up. some abuse it, but you can counter a counter in the game.
most of my frustration is with the abusers online who just dont play right...it makes it boring when you start playing a computer exploit more than a boxing game....
for me its just a jab to body then move..... most of the cheeesers just sit there wiggling joysticks waiting for the counter...i just dont give it to them anymore...........Comment

Re: Whats worse! The Round 3 Parry are the Mulitple Counter Windows in Round 4?
I think Round 4 is worse, Atleast in Round 3 you could box. But in ROund 4 it is almost impossible to box because you cannot even throw Head punches with out them twirling and if you throw to the body, they can side, back step and spam the block.Comment
