Rashan Jones Involed In Scuffle Outside Of Restaurant

Lightweight boxer Rashan Jones was involved in a scuffle outside a downtown restaurant last night. A witness to the scuffle said that a guy was heckling Jones as he was eating with his fiancee'. "Rashan was minding his own business eating with his chick when this dude starts talking noise. The dude was saying he sucked for losing his last fight and if he came outside he would knock Jones out like Cruz did. So Rashan got up and went outside with the dude. The dude swung and Jones knocked him unconscious. So it really wasn't a scuffle...more like Hand Down Man Down"! Afterwards, just walked back into the restaurant sat down and started eating again. It was cold on his part.

Jones declined comment regarding the scuffle...but did say...TUNE IN SATURDAY!

PRESS CONFERENCE BRAWL, THE WORLD AWAITS WEEKEND...

OTBA -- On April 14, 2011, a brawl involving the two boxers and their entourages occurred at a press conference held in New York to publicise the bout.

Jonathan "El Depredador" Maicelo went on stage at the Hudson Theatre and stared in the direction of where Rashan Jones was to appear. As soon as Rashan Jones appeared, Jonathan "El Depredador" Maicelo quickly walked toward him and appeared to be about to assault Rashan Jones. One of Jones ’ bodyguards attempted to block Maicelo's access to Jones before Maicelo threw a left hook in the bodyguard's direction.

The two boxers rolled on the floor with personnel from both camps getting involved.

During the melee OTBA President the14scorpion claimed to be knocked out when he hit his head on the table.

Following the brawl Maicelo came to the edge of the podium, and issued a several minute-long profanity-laden tirade towards myself and a couple of other journalists attending, when we suggested that Maicelo should be put in a straitjacket. Maicelo punctuated his oration by vowing to introduce myself to the concept of prison romance.

This brawl at this press conference for this fight should easily make The Ring magazine event of the year. Are you ready for this weekend?

Great night tonight...I give all the glory to God for this victory. I wanted to come out srtong and finish strong after last weeks debacle. I respect my opponent a whole lot. A lot of dudes wouldn't have thrown in the towel but he kept coming. Dude has a giant heart. I stuck to the game plan and fortunately I came out on top. I know the rematch will be much harder. I think the delay made both of us start slow. I'm so hyped I could fight again. I can't wait until next week to jump back into the ring! "Hand down...Man Down!

Classy opponent & great fight. The better boxer won tonight, you can't deny that. However I can't help but feel that with some more time in gym this week and a better game plan that I can win my next fight. Good luck to R. Jones until our next fight.

This was a great fight. I am hyped and cant wait to meet Cruz for the Rematch. Who ever is next in line this week will have to take the punishment for my recent defeat. Bring on the next battle. Make sure to strap you gloves on thight because i will be leaving with a W.

Q & A with Rashan Jones



Q: After your first fight you received a little backlash and was actually involved in an altercation with a heckler while you were out for dinner. How did that fuel you going into the 2nd fight?

A: I wouldn't say that was the overriding motivation going into my 2nd fight. I mean getting losing a fight that you had won by getting knocked out in the last round should be motivation enough...and it was. Shutting the hecklers up after the 2nd fight was just gravy.


Q: You have an interesting training regiment. You train with your brothers who are both in weight classes above you. How does training against bigger stronger fighters help you?

A: It helps out a lot...moreso because they are great fighters in their own right as well as bigger and stronger. My brother DJ is a middleweight and has quick hands as well as power. So, when I fight a guy who is fast and quick then I spar with him more. When I'm facing a guy who has bricks in his gloves, I'll spar with Kristian who is a heavyweight. It's definitely a blessing to be a boxing family.



Q: When you first began your professional career, you signed with Path To Greatness Promotions...but that fell through. Now that you've signed with Put Up Or Shut Up Entertainment, how has it been?

A: Well, I truly believe that Path To Greatness had a chance to be a great promotion. It was just that some of the boxers that they had weren't as dedicated and the people at the top had problems with the rules set for by the Boxing Commission. I was really disappointed because I didn't get a chance to fight at all. So, when Put Up or Shut Up came along at first I was skeptical. I didn't want my career to be delayed again by a promotion that wasn't serious about the craft. But, once i was able to sit down with not only the higher ups but the boxers themselves, I had no doubt that this was the place to be for me and my brothers. PUSU does a great job of taking care of their boxers and promoting the sport. So, I'm excited about the direction we're going.



Q: Can you talk about some of your competition...some of the boxers that stand out to you right now.



A: Well,obviously MK Cruz is sitting at the top right now at 2-0. he was the one that stopped me in my first fight. He's very knowledgeable and a student of his craft. He punches hard and if you're not careful you'll be taking a dirt nap. Scorp is the type of fighter that looks to separate your head from your neck from the opening bell. He's not interested in boxing per say...sticking and moving...the sooner he can get you out of there the better. Sixx may be short in stature but the guy can flat out box and has a heart as big as all outdoors. One guy that really stands out to me is DUnit. I didn't get a chance to see his second fight and was surprised to hear that he lost. But, I was very impressed with his first fight. I look forward to battling him ha ha ha!
