His numbers are off the charts but i agree with what he is basically saying.. In real life , we all know the term "A puncher's chance" Meaning a guy swings hard enough and the timing is right he can get an improbable knockout win.. This happens in real life but it's rare.. Most fighters getting dominated and outclassed dont have miracle comebacks..

In this video game.. winning with a puncher's chance is commonplace.. happens half if not more than half the time..

Fun, but i want something that leans more towards a sim.

You try to box and move, slip punches with head movement, block... you'll just get caught later in the fight by some guy throwing haymakers all fight..

Power punches should come at a heavier price in stamina loss.especially when you miss the punch... Also fighters regain stamina too quickly, far too many punches thrown with no real penalty for missing.

i feel real boxing strategy only works in this game if you have the superior fighter rating wise.

I said the same thing before. If the ratings are close you can kinda use some strategy but when they aren't close the lower guy doesn't stand a chance about 95% of the time, at least in OWC.

Real boxing is rewarded but some ratings and skill sets in the game overpower others.

OWC is not broken. I do not understand how so many believe this to be the case. Just a little history with me. I could not compete in FN4 in OWC. My win percentage was consistently 50%. I just could not defend spammers and runners. With FNC I'm currently 34-7 with my middleweight guy. Of those 7 losses, there's a mix of one punch KOs and some decisions. Most of my wins are knockouts because I can defend the spam and running.

If you hold back on punching, maybe limit yourself to about 30 punches a round, and you stay safe, you can dominate a power spammer. You just have to be patient and do your best to anticipate his big punch. No doubt that they can catch you, stun you and knock you down, but it is rare for me. I did fight a guy last night that knocked me down twice in the first tow rounds and I got up from there and won in the later rounds. What I usually do is go five rounds and then start upping my punch output with combinations.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Just finished playing and went against a max cab body spammer. He threw damn near 1200 punches and landed a good amount. Think he landed about 500 to my body. I knocked him down once though. My guy is 5'11" with a 72" reach and even though I have him as an "outside" fighter I find myself having to press the action alot against these giants. Even though the stats favored him and he was rated a 90 to my 88 they gave me the fight. I think EA has tried to program something in the game to simulate some sort of subjective scoring.

So even though the guy had more numbers the fact that I was pushing the action against a scared money super giant , and the knock down, put the fight in my favor. It was a split decision victory.

Re: This game doesnt reward true boxers

I used to think it didn't reward true boxing until last night. I played two randoms who used the same basic moves to their advantage.

One guy was Roy Jones. He honestly fought just like Jones Jr. He sat there with his guard down and looked to slip something lazy for a big shot. At first, I had no clue on how to defeat this. He was looking for a knockout and I was looking to get him tired. He was blowing my head up (no body punches in the entire fight for him) as I sacrificed to land some body punches. He stunned me 3 times early (no knockdowns) and the fight carried over through the later rounds. In the 8th I finally got rewarded for all my work early in the fight. He threw a jab, I slipped underneath and came with a powerful right hook to the body. He didn't get up. Even though he was winning on the cards, his failure to respect the rules of boxing cost him a win.

In my other fight, the kid outpunched me 959-457. Again he was using the same combo. I couldn't guard against all three of them but protected myself from serious damage. He cut my eye within the first 30 seconds of the fight using that combo and it was shut during the 6th. I was switched up my stance and guarded the eye which actually made his combo pointless but he kept throwing it. I would just pick my spots. Even though he was 'busier' than me the game somehow realized that his punches weren't really damaging. Again I worked the body throughout. Again I was rewarded in the later rounds as that combo came out slower and I was able to go on offense a little more. Went to the cards but I won a UD.

Felt very rewarding to know that if you can outlast the 'cheese' early than true boxing is respected in the later rounds. I still have no cure for expert cheesers but I'll figure 'em out one day. Craziest thing about both these fights is that I combined for just under 1,000 punches thrown in both fights. My opponents combined for well over 2,000.

I have to admit I'm increasingly dissappointed by this game. In Rd 4 if I guy was really bad & just used one arm, I'd win. Unless he had a gimmick like hyperpunching I could beat guys who just punched wildly. On Champion however, I lose constantly to guys who throw wildly. I try to land a single jab & guys come back immediately with a 5 punch combo. I figure they'll get tired but then it takes too long & they usually catch me. I wasn't great at Rd4 but I could beat bad players by using my head. I'm on a 5 fight losing streak & all 5 were to really bad players. This game needs work.
