Even if we get that it's still too late for boxing to ever make a real comeback in North America. Not only would you need a top American HW but you need someone like what Mike Tyson was like when he stormed the scene. A brutal savage HW that destroyed all opposition and scared the hell out of all his opponents. He would have to capture the fans' imagination like Tyson did. You could have the 2nd coming of Ali and it would bore the public to tears because of his boxing style. Ali was ahead of his time in the way he presented himself but these days half the boxers do the Ali shtick so that wouldn't work like it did in the 60's.

In this day and age no one wants to see a highly skilled HW box his way to decisions or 11th round TKO's even if he was American and technically leaps and bounds above the competition. They want to be fascinated by the boxer's style followed by a personality that fits his savage boxing style. Unfortunately a guy like Tyson, who embodied that perfect blend of style and personality, comes once in a generation and it's no coincedence that the American interest in the HW division and boxing in general has pretty much fizzled out since he became a non factor.

This is very true. I agree with you here no doubt. The sweet science has no place in North America today, we only seem to want brutality. No "action" and no blood equals no buys. Good stuff

Arce vs Vasquez was the fight of the night. Actually surprised Cortez didn't stop it.

Main event was disappointing. Everyone expected bombs away, but it was really a game of catch me if you can. Seemed like Mosley just came in with the purpose of surviving, like Clottey, but almost didn't even do that. No, actually it looks like he had a gameplan in mind, but once he witnessed Pac's speed/power, he threw it out the window and went into survival mode. It was evident that if he stood and traded he would eventually get KO'd. He had a few hard punches that didn't phase Pacquiao at all.

Also, Bayless lost some cred counting that shove as a knockdown. I guess he gets props since it made Manny mad and made the fight a little more exciting.

It also translates to MMA as well where "monsters" like Brock Lesner immediately become a top PPV draw while guys like GSP are constantly criticized and labeled as boring because he is so technically superior to his competition but his fighting style is not conducive to savage KO's and slugfests. GSP could easily be considered the Ali of MMA style wise yet Dana White has to consistently defend him after almost every fight because he is not considered exciting enough for the average fan. Luckily the nature of MMA allows for more exciting and quicker fights on average than boxing does.

                +1.

I wouldn't pay $60 to watch this fight. If they lower to $35 like u said then maybe.

lol! This fight was so bad that the best part was when Mosley's girlfriend stood up and we got a glimpse of her ***....me and my boys let out a collective "OOOOHHHHHH!!" as if Mosely or Pac got knocked out. lmao It was hilarious

I'm still waiting for Hopkins to retract his statement that Pac can't handle black American fighters.

Pac needs to fight someone 'good' in his next bout, but realistically who's left? Mayweather. That's it. Another fight with Marquez is definitely something I'd like to see, but at 147, I think Pac murders him. Pac has improved 10-fold since his last fight with JMM.

No kidding. After every round they were giving each other dap. I was like "What the hell?!" Shane is supposed to hate Pacman the way Tyson hated his opponents. They were just best friends sparring. Awful. I hope Shane retires. Freaking coward.

I don't see how he has any choice but to retire.
If he doesn't, he'll only be regarded as an opponent. Guys will line up to make a name for themselves because they know Shane isn't a threat.

For the second time in my life, I am going to use a word to describe Mosley after a fight. Disappointed. This reminds me of the one of the Vernon Forrest fights. Mosley was always known as a banger in my mind. If nothing else he would come to fight and after this fight it just felt like he quit after the 5 round or so. No intent on his punches and seemed to be retreating and trying to survive.

This was a sparring fight. Mosley showed no sense of wanting to fight. Waste of time for boxing fans.

He's been done for a long time. I really didn't expect anything else from Mosley in this one.
