My question even if the ref was watching the boxers how would that have stopped Ortiz from getting punched and knocked out

That being said, Floyd is an arrogant, egotistical, self centered, money hungry prick. Read his twitter and you can get a sense of what he's all about.
You know I thought Alvarez was going to be the one to bring it back, but he really dissapointed me in his fight tonight. Looked like all he was trying to do was get the win and didn't really get better in the process. The win is great but he is not going to be able to stand back and just throw haymakers further down the road.

To all of the floyd haters I have a hypothetical ? What if the gash mayweather received from the headbutt worsened over the course of the fight and the ref called the fight. Would Mayweather still receive the same hate?

Ortiz got what he deserved... A KFC Tuesday night special (2piece). Cheaters never win!

Look at the replay. When the ref said fight. Floyd put up his guard and never put it down. Ortiz came over to him and Floyd 's guard was still up.
Boy this habit is as bad as dope!!!

Ortiz would have known they were fighting and would have had his hands up. Floyd's first unblocked shot didn't even knock him out. I just dont know why Ortiz looked at the ref after the first one hit. I personally would have put my hands up even if I didnt think we were fighting.

Point being it was a disaster and all involved were at fault to some degree. Ortiz cheated with an intentional headbut, the ref failed to maintain control and you can tell by Floyd's actions that he knew Ortiz wasnt ready to fight and went after him anyway. Legal...yes...honorable...no.

By the letter of the law Floyd did nothing wrong, Ortiz and the Ref did. But respect for the sport and your opponent would dictate you dont hit a defenseless man.
He'd already hugged Ortiz twice, and allowed Ortiz to kiss him on the check. It would have been more "respectful" had he allowed another hug, after receiving an undoubtedly dirty headbutt?

On another note, Larry Merchant is an excellent interviewer. He will probably go down as one of the all time greats for his candid, straightforward approach. A lot of people don't realize that as a reporter your goal is to get to the truth. That's probably why Mayweather doesn't like him.

Not at all. If you look at it Ortiz goes in to touch gloves, Floyd looks like he thinks he is coming in to hug then Ortiz starts to hug, Floyd pushes him back and then lets loose. At no point does Floyd ever put up his guard.

What's funny is you all (Floyd haters/Ortiz fans) act like even if the fight had continued, that Ortiz would have had a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

Like how he got the truth out of Ortiz... oh wait he didn't.
