    Alvarez vs Cintron

This saturday on HBO. I'm ready for this fight, think it'll be pretty good. I'm ready to see how canelo fairs against some higher level competion. This fight is gonna be a big stepping stone for him if he wins. Keep in mind Cintron has been in against some high level opponents.

Cintron got picked for a reason. He's a shot fighter. I expect Alvarez to dominate.
I'm still looking forward to this fight as I love highly offensive guys like Canelo.

But I'm still puzzled as to how Cintron gets a title shot considering he was beaten handily by Carlos Molina. Even a guy like Erislandy Lara deserved a shot as he had a draw with Molina and was absolutely robbed in his bout against Williams.

Heck, I think even Williams deserved a shot over Cintron.

But whatever. Like almost every 'champ' out there, Alvarez will be coddled and protected against any real competition until they've been milked to the extreme.

Oh don't remind me of that robbery decision that paul williams got. That was ridiculous.

I think Cintron was also chosen because he has more experience with higher level guys. They gotta test the waters a bit with Canelo before diving into the elite fighters you know.

I think this match will be ugly. A few hard shots by Alvarez and Cintron will flop and be counted out; I don't believe he has much gas left in the tank for boxing.

Cintron could give Alvarez some trouble but like money said above I expect an old and faded fighter, we'll see tho...

Watching the fight now, and Cintron seems timid and trying to survive. Not good.

Canelo is asking for Mayweather. While I believe Canelo is a good fighter, Mayweather will destroy him. He looked huge in this fight. I'd say close to 170 pounds..

Yeah Canelo did look pretty huge. Cintron just looked and seemed. . .off somehow. Not to discredit Canelo because it was a good performance. Actually all the fights were pretty entertaining. And i'd have to agree with you guys, he doesn't want any part of mayweather. And i agree with steelcityjames, a Canelo martinez fight could be interesting. I really don't think Canelo is ready for that fight yet, but i don't think it would be a walk in the park for martinez.

martinez is getting up there in years, which is why i think Alvarez should get him while he's hot. he's only 21, so after Martinez he has plenty of time for other good pay days.

Why is he calling out a fighter in a different weightclass, when he hasn't even defeated a top fighter in his own weightclass? Why not ask for the winner of Cotto/Margarito, or James Kirkland. I know the Mexican fan base would love to see him and Chavez Jr. go at it in Mexico. He hasn't don't enough to deserve a bout with Floyd.

                            Agreed.
Besides, I have no interest in watching him get schooled over 12 rounds by Mayweather.
                            I'd rather he fight Cotto/Margarito or S-Mart.

The whole card was great. We saw two spectacular stoppages and Canelo looked good as well.

Canelo isn't close to being ready for Martinez. A fight with Chavez would be his best bet. Neither fighter is ready to take that next step against a true champ like S-Mart.

But both guys are the jewels of their promoters stables. And I think they both know that neither fighter is ready for that next step so they'll continue to feed on 2nd-tier competition until the big money and less risks are available.

                              Winner-winner, chicken dinner.

                              Plus Floyd would DESTROY Canelo.
