Re: Boxing Off-Topic
You're right. I posted this at the end of April.
"Crawford versus Postol is now official, but it goes to PPV. Arum is downplaying the numbers in saying 100,000 buys would be sufficient, and admitting that Crawford activity and limited regular HBO dates are forcing the "pay format", but how are they going to sell this unless they go down in price.
Having said that I've been looking forward to this ever since I missed Postol's impressive KO win over Matthysse, but not at full price PPV."
EDIT: The undercard doesn't excite me either:
Gilberto Ramirez vs. Dominik Britsch
Oscar Valdez vs. Matias Rueda
Jose Benavidez Jr. vs. Francisco Santana

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I'm still astonished at the career of Vasyl Lomachenko.
The fact that he only lost 1 amateur fight in 397 bouts is crazy (twice avenged BTW).
In total, he's stepped in the ring 404 times and only lost twice.
I really hope a rematch with Salido can be arranged.
It's too bad a deal with Rigondeaux couldn't have been made before Lomachenko moved up in weight.
I find it hard to believe they can't find a catchweight to suit though. They're only separated by 8 lbs.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I don't think Lomachenko is going to go down from 130 and I don't think Rigondeaux would even catchweight compromise at featherweight (126). Meanwhile Lomachenko and Salido who first fought each other at feather are firmly entrenched in the 130 pound division. Perfect setup for great fight.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Quite an upset last night. I was going to post a reminder that the fight was on but didn't see it as a big deal . I did not see the fight live.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Good weekend of boxing coming up and it's all Non-PPV.
Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter finally- (CBS)
Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale- probably another notch on AJ's belt but Brezeale's line (17-0, 15 KOs) offers some hope of competitiveness. UK VS USA. (Showtime)
George Groves vs. Martin Murray-good crossroads fight, two good fighters. (Showtime)Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Porter vs Thurman 9pm ET/8pm CT CBS
The two fights above are PBC bouts. The Groves-Murray fight is the undercard to Joshua vs Breazeale televised live from the O2 Arena in London. If it's the only preliminary it'll kick off around 5:15 eastern.Comment

That first knockdown was brutal as was the follow-up barrage.
Looking forward to seeing Smith fight again.Comment

Didn't know that. I see he was 18 when he started so he had some room to grow.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
So Chris Arreola replaces Povetin as Wilder's opponent for July 16.
Last four fights:
12/12/15- Majority Draw against Travis Kauffman changed to a "no decision" when Arreola fails a drug test.
07/18/15- Majority Draw against Fred Kassi
03/13/15- Unanimous Decision against Curtis Harper
05/10/14- KOed by Bermane Stiverne.
Hard to find any reason he deserves a title shot of any kind but I guess the bout could be entertaining.Comment
