What I hate about this fight is boxing elitists like you feel like you have territory to protect so you are going overboard with your comments. Floyd should win and likely will win. You don't need to act like Conor has no training in boxing simply to make your point.

Lets flip the scenario: Lets say Floyd had some HS and college wrestling training along with his elite level boxing. No one in their right mind would be saying "Floyd will lose to any top/mid level amateur MMA fighter". Why because while he hadnt grappled professionally, he does have some knowledge and skill in an area that is necessary to be successful in MMA.

This whole attitude from boxing elitists makes me cheer for Conor. I honestly didnt give a **** about this fight weeks ago. Floyd is a wife beating scumbag. Conor is likely a racist. I was actually cheering for a double knockout. But week after week of people acting like NONE of the striking skills in MMA can translate successfully in boxing, makes me cheer for the likely racist. Yall have lowered the bar so much that a 12-0 decision loss is a win for Conor.

    LOL.
Come one a. You're cheering for Conor because you're either a fan of his or more of an MMA fan than a boxing fan.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Vegas is flooded right now with a bunch of Irish supporters and UFC fans. It's all good. Just own it.

I don't think Money99 is a boxing elitist in the least bit (I'm not defending him, just saying).

Floyd has always had to play the heel and sell fights. This time he was actually on the receiving end of it because of Conor's big mouth which is what the UFC has seemed to turn into reaching WWE levels of histrionics and theater.

That coupled with such a big UFC following has convinced too many people that this is a legit fight which it is absolutely not. Far from it.

I think this is what has pissed off many boxing fans (not elitists).

I feel what you're saying because some of the stuff about Conor not being able to beat amateur guys is exaggerated. But him having even a puncher's chance of doing anything worthwhile in the ring is also exaggerated.

Can't take a guy who is undefeated in bar room brawls and stick him in a ring with one of the best fighters ever with rules and regulations and say, "Well...he does have a chance."

Come on. I don't need to lie about that. I've actually spent more money on boxing events this year than I have mma. I can truly say I equally like boxing as much as I do the UFC. I have issues with how boxing is run and it's structure but I grew up on boxing.

I don't have to hide my love of Conor. I've watched him fight live 3 times over the past few years but his comments (particularly the monkey/rocky 3 comment) have made me rethink my fandom.

The truth is i. didn't care who won this fight. I really didn't. Until boxing only fans started going over the top with their analysis.

I'm cheering for a decision win for Floyd. That means Conor comes back to mma and that means that boxing only fans have to shut the **** up about a mma striker not being able to stand in the same ring as a boxed.

This is from a year ago, so take it for what it's worth.
This is against a Chris Van Heerden, who's no slouch, but no superstar either.
Also remember he took the sparring assignment on last minute notice and hadn't been training and was out of boxing shape.

And yet, we see in this video, he is absolutely schooling McGregor. Toying with him.
Anytime McGregor tries to fire his left, he gets hit with a jab and looks stunned every time.

McGregor, with all his striking experience, looks like a novice boxer. Which he is.

We all know McGregor is going to lose, but I don't think the average MMA fan realizes how badly he's going to lose.
Ivan Drago will cringe when watching this fight.

For Jim Rome fans out there, no longer will Clones use 'France' as a reference to one-sided beatings.
They'll now be signing off with, "Sincerely, Connor McGregor".

For what it's worth, if I'm wrong, I'll gladly admit it.
I'll eat crow and admit that Connor has tremendous boxing skills.

I just take offense that so many people out there think so little of how good elite, pro boxers are.
They believe a man who's never fought professionally can walk in and beat one of the greatest of all time based on his cage fighting against pro wrestlers and ju jitsu experts.

MMA fighters are incredible, incredible athletes. I can't begin to describe what respect and admiration I have for these guys (and gals).
But this is apples to oranges and I firmly believe McGregor is going to find this out the hard way.
I wonder what's going to happen to his ego when he's KO'd by a retired, 40YO man with little power.

            Floyd wins this easily.

Connor may land a few shots here and there but he's not winning this fight, hyperbole or no hyperbole.

If he loses, he will collect his 100 mil and maybe fight Nick Diaz again. It ain't that's serious for Conor.

If Conor loses a decision it doesn't mean he has tremendous boxing skills but it will prove that mma skills can sometimes translate to boxing.

I'd argue that he's fought more than just pro wrestlers and bjj experts but you know that's not true so there is no need to argue that.

Not true. He was "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather long before he was Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

Mayweather wasn't a star outside of boxing circles when he was "Pretty Boy." Then he turned heel for the De La Hoya fight, adopting the "Money" personna, and became a polarizing star.

I'm a boxing purist. My only quibble with this fight is that it's sucking oxygen from the one of the best legitimate fights that can be made in the sport, Canelo-GGG. And sadly, the mismatch that is bound to unfold tonight will turn off tire-kickers on boxing and reduce the number of eyeballs that will see the true superfight Sept. 16, which is a shame.
