    Boxing Off-Topic

Didn't want to start a whole thread, but did anyone else see Ishe Smith's reaction to winning his fight with K9 tonight? So much passion and emotion coming through. Couldn't help but feel good for him and his family.

Also, we can use this thread for all non specific boxing talk.

I didn't see it, but I can understand his emotion, coming out of nowhere at 34 and winning a world title.

First Vegas born fighter to ever win a world title? Who would have thought?

Just watched Tony Thompson's KO of Price. The behind the ear shot is getting up there with the liver punch as one of those dangerous unassuming punches that can end a fight.

Wow! Just watched the replay. That came out of nowhere. Equilibrium was just GONE after that.

Chavez Jr, fines $900,000 and suspended 9 months by the Nevada AC. Suspension is retroactive to the day after the Martinez fight and the 900K is 30% of his purse from the fight.

                Wow, he got taxed good!

A little too much for a drug that didn't enhance his performance.

doesn't surprise me about JCC JR. time for him to decide if he's serious about his career or not!

Fining him that much for marijuana is a joke though.

hefty fine is because it's his second offence....does seem a bit steep, but it definitely sends a message

They ruled this as his second offense. He needs to smarten up if he wants to keep boxing in Vegas.

Yeah, but it was the first marijuana offense. EXCESSIVE

Who keeps the $900,000? It goes in the Nevada State Athletic Commission's coffers? Does the WBC get any? Their fight was for the WBC middleweight title.

What happens if he doesn't pay? He obviously can't fight in Nevada, but so what? Even he loses sanctioning from the WBC (which might not happen) he'll still get $4 million for a Martinez rematch.

I agree with you, but in the eyes of the NSAC (rightly or wrongly) this is two drug failures. Which is probably how they were able to figure that 900K number.

Clearly weed isn't a PED and could explain why he looked to be sleep walking through 11 rounds a failure is a failure and he really can't afford another one.

I hear you rob, just seems like they should have hit him for no more than $200K.
