GGG wins by TKO in 8th.

EDIT: GGG jabbed and methodically broke down Lemieux. Another a blistering body shot sent the Canadian withering toward the ropes, the ref stopped it after GGG threw a left that was blocked. The body punch didn't send him down but it did short circuit him.

Lemieux In Agony After The 2nd vicious body shot.

He'll do his thing and take the KO when it comes. There has to be some respect for Lemieux's power. No telling what Floyd does.
ggg did his thing....what i find interesting is that ggg can find no one to fight him and floyd pretty much hand picked with ease. it's easy to get 49 fights when no one is scared of you.

if anything, you have to respect lemiuex for even getting into the ring with ggg....

Even more so was Lemiuex's willingness to hang in there after the body shot knock down at the end of the 5th. The crippling punch had a delayed reaction that had Lemiuex taking a knee and GGG connecting with a hard right while his opponent was still down. A lot of opponents would have feigned being too hurt to continue after the late blow.

The punch that set up the uppercut-left hook to the body was a jab that went through Lemiuex's guard and exploded on his face. It made him retreat momentarily and then GGG jumped on him. The jab was lethal last night.

good lord, i think he's serious lol.

I saw part of the fight, was about what i expected. Some people just thought GGG would go in there and knock lemiuxs head off first thing, but people forget, he's not just a brawler, he's a boxer puncher. He doesn't just throw a ton of punches, but he throws accurate punches.

Now the interesting thing, i saw a bit of the pre fight talk and oscar de la hoya was saying the winner of this fight should fight the canelo/cotto winner, that's interesting, i guess that means he's gonna let canelo fight him if he wins, good. But if you want to see ggg fight the winner of that fight, ya'll better hope canelo wins. I don't see cotto fighting him, and to be fair, i can understand since he's not really a middlweight, but he chose to move up and take the middlweight belt.

GGG has two important things that a lot of heavy punchers don't have...a great jab and a great body attack...throw the footwork, the balance, and the chin in there and you have a tough nut for any fighter to crack.

Kellerman compared GGG's potential further rise in popularity to that of Marvin Hagler. But he pointed out that Hagler got to the next level when the lighter guys came up to meet him or when they were at least in the mix. Hearns, Duran and Leonard (even when he retired in '82) dramatically improved Hagler's profile. There will be no such help from the lower weight class super stars. They'll avoid GGG like the plague. And I don't blame them.

it will be tough enough for cotto to get past canelo....and i can't see him fighting ggg either. canelo, on the other hand, would be a formidable opponent. too bad manny is too small to go after ggg....if he was a jr. middleweight, I think he would.

Yeah, and I don't blame him, but don't say you could beat him when the fight's a phone call away and you retired with Berto.

Yeah, but winning all of them is pretty hard. It's not like Floyd beat a bunch of stiffs. Even pushing 40 I think he could still beat Thurman and Brook. I don't think "One Time" hits as hard as I initially thought he did, unless it's injury related.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous to act like floyd hasn't fought anybody, and as for the interview, meh, it's not that big of a deal. What do you think he's gonna say when asked about another boxer "i'd lose to him" no boxers act like that. But floyd shouldn't want any part of that fight anyway, dude is waay bigger. floyd can't even make 160, he's not a huge welterweight.

And no, i really doubt manny would go after GGG(he wouldn't fight canelo, doubt he would fight GGG), nobody lower than his weight class wants to go up and fight him(which i don't think is a big deal, GGG isn't in a rush to move up and fight ward). I only have a problem with guys in his division not giving him a chance, people like quillin, who have pretty much flat out said they don't want him(by saying, we're not worried about GGG that's not an important fight and stuff like that)

Also Ward is confirmed on the canelo cotto undercard, i'm hearing people saying they're trying to set him up against kovalev, there's no way that would be on the same card, but if it is, they can just take my damn wallet for that ppv lol.

Kathy Duva just confirmed that negotiations are back on for Kovalez-Ward, but that Kovalez won't fight anybody until January. She has Kovalez slated for three fights in 2016, and wants one of them to be against Ward. Still very murky.

Early reports have the PPV numbers for Golovkin-Lemieux at or even below 150,000 which is a disappointment. Neither GGG or Ward will fight each other if the proper compensation isn't there. The same holds true of Ward-Kovalez. I have no idea what numbers either of those fights could generate.

So GGG "only" pulled in $2 million while Lemieux got $1.5 million. Bonus money would have come in to play had the number of buys exceeded 350,000 but that was apparently not the case.

As quickly as Madison Square Garden sold out I thought it would hit 300K but that crowd was probably 99% hardcore.
