ESPN had an article about Spence-Crawford and they basically implied this fight will marinate for a couple years first.
Gotta love multiple belts so guys can hide and make money fighting tomato cans.

There are 147 guys above tomato can level but because of booked fights or other factors, I doubt any of them will take on Crawford or Spence in 2018. The other factor is how high can either of them go PPV-wise? Spence's alignment with the Dallas Cowboys is genuine but how much will that affect his marketability?

This is the equivalent of the Cavs and Warriors not playing in the finals, but instead tooling around their own respective conferences for a few years pounding on the doormats and also-rans of the league, so they could "build anticipation" for the matchup (which would eventually happen after LeBron and the bulk of the Warriors' roster were past their prime). Sure there'd be the occasional good matchup w/ the Rockets or Celtics, but the 'main event' would never happen.

In any other sport, this would be completely unacceptable to the fanbase and the 'sport' would quickly become a joke. In boxing, this is routine.

          Speaking of jokes, Broner retired.

Dan Rafeal didn't waste any time blasting him, lol:
          Read the breaking news story from the ESPN contributor %{contributorName}

As usual, former four-division titlist Adrien Broner is crying out for attention on social media, this time claiming he’s done boxing, which we all know is not true since he always needs money, especially for bail, and he can still make a lot in the fight game even though he doesn’t win against top opponents. Nonetheless, AB was at it again Thursday, writing, “I’m done boxing all mfs do is try to take advantage of me.” If anyone thinks the "retirement" is real, you're fooling yourself. He’ll be back, possibly for a rematch with Jessie Vargas that is in negotiations, according to Vargas.

Yeah, no credibility. He probably thinks people will care when he unretires in a few weeks.

Not too interested in the woman's bouts tonight on ShowTime. Both contests are mismatches no matter how much they're trying to hype Shields-Gabriels.

Crawford would DESTROY Broner. Not sure if Bud would drop him, as Broner's only skill is a tungsten chin. But Crawford would play with and clown Broner until the ref finally stopped it around Round 9 or 10.

                  A joke of a fight.

Yeah, tungsten chin and taking "fighting in spurts" to another level. His defense is his "non-offense".

Pacquiao vs Matthysse will apparently only air on free Philippine TV and SkyCable Pay-Per-View unless something changes.

Gilberto Ramirez (37-0, 25 KOs) vs. Roamer Angulo (23-0, 20 KOs) for a 168 title on ESPN Saturday night.

EDIT: In an ESPN article yesterday it said Arum and Top Rank is "only handling the American television distribution" so who knows?

That's a shame about the Pac-Matthysse telecast, even though I find it hard to believe that a Pacquiao fight against a guy with some name recognition among boxing fans won't be on American TV.

This will be a fun fight. Two guys WAY past their primes, but they're equally matched in their bravery, toughness and mediocrity these days.

but i would LOVE to see him get destroyed....lol. and then he could retire with good reason and crawford could notch a name fighter under his belt.

this will go the path of floyd vs. manny and happen when they are past their primes and the demand is not what it could have been....the heavyweight division finally has a fight that will sell itself and now it's gone just like that. sad.

Yup. Greed hurts all sports but Boxing seems to suffer the most.
If only one belt existed, these two have already fought. Perhaps more than once.
