Re: Boxing Off-Topic
DLH weighed in at 146 for his bout against Pacquiao.
So one could say he had no problem making weight either.
But then it was discovered he was using an IV to get below 147.
Not saying McGregor isn't fit as a fiddle going in.
But making 153 doesn't necessarily mean he did it properly.

When Paulie responded to that question I got the impression that he was operating as a respected analyst, with no axe to grind. He also said that bigger guys have hit less hard and smaller guys have hit harder.Comment

conor battered him pretty good with 16 oz. gloves, just imagine if they were 8 oz. in their sparring session.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
and that's what it would be, a bonafide miracle....conor will basically be trying to land the perfect punch for the whole fight while floyd will be avoiding that perfect punch. floyd avoiding and landing punches pretty much at will. unless conor somehow becomes hard to hit and can land that perfect punch, that's really his only chance. pretty much how the fight goes in a nutshell.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
it will be interesting how much respect (if any) floyd gives conor in the ring on saturday night....he is not and will never be a go for broke type of fighter. it's in his nature to fight cautiously. i think we all know conor will not give floyd any respect and go right after him. what we don't know is the manner in which he will do it, as well as how much he will be able to absorb floyd's punches. i guess anything can happen, so it is possible floyd maybe hurts a hand or somehow gets rocked by conor. it's also possible floyd hurts conor with a punch he doesn't see coming and ends it early. we know pretty much what floyd is going to do, we just don't know what conor has up his sleeve.
A guy who's never fought an amateur or pro bout suddenly has a blueprint to beat Floyd?
The 49 guys before him, who made their living in boxing couldn't figure it out, but a guy with zero experience does?
Connor's strategy will be to come out and swing like a toddler having a tantrum in Toys R Us.
Floyd will let him flail away for a round or two, let Connor spend the little gas he has, and then counter punch and potshot him into an early grave.
Connor will either quit on his stool from exhaustion, or get KOd from one of the many shots he won't see coming.
This will be the easiest money he's ever made, and all the uneducated MMA fans, with their mountain dew starter pack, barbed wire tattoos and Affliction T-shirts will cry and wonder why they spent $100 to watch an undefeated pro boxer dismantle a man who would struggle to earn a participation ribbon at a local amateur boxing exhibit.

Lol. So funny. So wrong about his approach. Almost like you've never watched a Conor Mcgregor fight.

Boxing Off-Topic
It's almost like there is no available information on how he strikes, punches or fights.
Yes he's never fought in a boxing match but its ridiculous to discount his years of striking experience. I'm sure he's going to walk into the ring and forget how to punch since he's such a novice.

There isn't one striker in the UFC who would sniff the top 30 in any weight class.
The UFC is incredibly popular and for good reason.
But the top UFC fighters make peanuts compared to the top boxers in the world.
If they were good enough to compete in the top 10 of the boxing world, they'd be doing it.
They can't because they don't have the skills to do so.
McGregor is no exception.
So he knocked out Aldo in 4 seconds.
Aldo would get blitzed in a state boxing tournament.
Same with Diaz, Alavrez or anyone else in McGregor's weight range.
So pardon me if I don't give much credence to Connor knocking out MMA fighters who couldn't hold a candle to 90% of pro boxers, let alone one of the best of all time.
This would be no different if the roles were reversed.
Hey, Mayweather starred in a WWE PPV event. I guess that means he could win a wrestling gold medal in the next summer Olympics.

He has never, ever fought anyone in a boxing contest with the experience and skill of a Floyd Mayweather.

See the problem is no one is saying he can hang with one of the best of all time. In fact, I've been saying the opposite.
What I'm saying is the whole Golden Gloves **** you've been on is wrong but who cares. You can't prove that ****. Even if Conor looks bad tonight, that doesn't prove your point. It's excessive and maybe you actually believe it but the actual evidence we have doesn't support it.
What I hate about this fight is boxing elitists like you feel like you have territory to protect so you are going overboard with your comments. Floyd should win and likely will win. You don't need to act like Conor has no training in boxing simply to make your point.
Lets flip the scenario: Lets say Floyd had some HS and college wrestling training along with his elite level boxing. No one in their right mind would be saying "Floyd will lose to any top/mid level amateur MMA fighter". Why because while he hadnt grappled professionally, he does have some knowledge and skill in an area that is necessary to be successful in MMA.
This whole attitude from boxing elitists makes me cheer for Conor. I honestly didnt give a **** about this fight weeks ago. Floyd is a wife beating scumbag. Conor is likely a racist. I was actually cheering for a double knockout. But week after week of people acting like NONE of the striking skills in MMA can translate successfully in boxing, makes me cheer for the likely racist. Yall have lowered the bar so much that a 12-0 decision loss is a win for Conor.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
No kicking no elbow shots no chance. If the ref breaks them in the clinches early Conor has less than no chance. Only chance he has is to rough Floyd up early and catch him on the break. Ref stops bout mid to late Floyd gets a TKO.
During the press conferences it appeared Conor had a good 3 inches on Floyd yesterday at the weigh in Conor might have had him by an inch. Was Conor wearing lifts in his shoes?Comment
