Yup....but unfortunately I don't see it happening anytime soon. Both will have their mandatory defenses, and Joshua already made it clear that he won't relinquish any belt to fight Wilder. So in order for the fight to happen the alphabet soup of commissions will have to come together and agree to do it. We all know how that usually goes....

the buzz for this fight should be huge after he destroyed stiverne last night....if that isn't making a statement, i don't know what is. hate to say it, but he looked better than joshua in his last fight.

Yeah, but Stiverne doesn't really want to fight or train. He's only had one other bout in the two years and ten months since they first fought. He was a Dead Fighter Walking when he entered the ring and he knew it.

Stivernme is a Don King fight and Don King just build up boxers to use them no matter what. He's not concerned about their conditioning or health.

Totally agree. Stiverne didn't look like he had any other interest other than collecting a paycheck.

But that's not Wilder's fault. This man seems legit in his desire to fight the best.
Nobody else wanted to touch Ortiz, but he wanted that fight.
I believe him when he says he'll fight anyone, anywhere. Backyard, hometown,...doesn't seem to matter to him.
It's refreshing and I hope Joshua mans-up and accepts his challenge.

Agree about King, but at some point, the fighter has to take responsibility for himself.

                LOLOLOLOL!

Yes, sir. And that's exactly why anyone who thinks this is a "statement" win by Wilder is higher than Sputnik.

Wilder proved NOTHING with this win other than what we know: He has a big right hand, lousy footwork and piss-poor technique.

It appears the renaissance of the heavyweight division may be short-lived if Wilder and Joshua are the two best heavyweights available now. The class isn't that deep anymore with the retirement of W. Klitschko and hopefully the permanent drug banishments of Povetkin and Ortiz. Parker sucks, Fury is a drug-addled head case, and Breazeale and Whyte are pretenders who would have been cannon fodder in any solid heavyweight era.

We'll get Joshua-Wilder next year. But anyone expecting a classic Ali-Frazier or Bowe-Holyfield showdown will be disappointed. Neither of these guys is very good when looking at the history of the division. But they're the best we have right now, which is saying very little.

Come on, dude. Stiverne was not a fighter last night. He was a fat lamp post.

Wilder made no statement whatsoever. Compubox showed Stiverne landed ZERO punches. He weighed in heavier than in the last decade and didn't even try. The ultimate cash-and-carry tomato can.

People are always going to hate on certain fighters. It's not Wilders fault his other fights didn't happen and he did what he was suppose to do against an opponent like Stirverne. People are actually complaining after he knocked out a out of shaped boxer early; which he should have and complaining because a champ wants to unify the title is puzzling.

I'm not hating on Wilder but George kind of earned his praise.

Also Big George had the market on "punching awkwardness" so I don't really see any similarities in their style.

You seriously don't see how people can say Wilder like Foreman threw unorthodox or wild punches?!? I posted this in a couple of boxing groups and forums and they agree.

I just don't see them as comparable in the way they deliver punches. Foreman threw looping bombs as uppercuts, hooks and rights while Wilder is more of a straight right guy.

But high praise only came to Foreman when he upset Frazier and then followed up with his destruction of Ken Norton. Even before that he had cred as an Olympic champion and a devastating puncher. Even if we could agree on unorthodoxy in both the bottom line is George annihilated Joe Frazier while Deontay annihilated a declining out of shape boxer who wasn't that good to begin with.

The first time I saw Wilder several years ago the first thing I thought was "young Foreman". Not comparing their abilities, but rather their punch delivery, posture, and ring movement. Glad you see it too so I'm not the only one lol

I've never seen Wilder throw punches like this (ABOVE). Note the last four punches of the sequence-LEFT UPPERCUT, LEFT HOOK, LEFT UPPERCUT, LEFT UPPERCUT.

                              However, he does "loop" occasional.
