I still think the series can be deeper.Fight Night needs to be more responsive to the tendencies and abilities of each individual boxer. The single player modes needs to be much deeper especially the career. It needs a manager like mode.
    It's going great man!

I agree it should be deeper but I also think that career type modes will be the least likely to see a ton of depth if we get boxing games rolling again.

One of the biggest challenges here is the amount of dev hours required to support this kind of content. It's the same reason why you see so many console shooters excel with multiplayer but have limited campaign content. It's just super expensive and time consuming to produce. In order to make it really work well you're looking at a multi-title approach that has a long term plan for how to build on these modes. And with a next gen title where you're likely starting fresh you won't see that crazy amount of depth in a first title.

I do think some of the gameplay ideas are easier to solve. Definitely agree about the unique traits being super important. It's one of the most important areas of realism in a boxing game and also one of the things that will keep the game fresh over time.

My understanding is that the Next-Gen system were easier for production of games. Is the UFC game going to be deep in these modes? I know you can't answer but the fans are going to expect the depth I mentioned for a Fight Night game.
The UFC game is going to be a whole new monster to conquer. Many of the fans got bored quick with Fight Night. They wanted Fight Night to be like NBA 2k, MLB: The Show and a text-sim manager. I'm hoping UFC does what ever it is suppose to do and lead the way to a better Fight Night if made.

I'd imagine there are some advantages to developing on new consoles. Campaign/story is always going to be a significant lift though from a dev hours & budgetary standpoint depending on what exactly goes into those kinds of modes. New hardware won't change that.

I think there's some opportunity for innovation here. I wouldn't mind seeing modes that blur the lines between online and offline play, similar to what we've seen in Madden connected careers. Plus you can mitigate some of the content burden by giving players tools to build their own experiences. I don't think the typical combat sports career mode of doing various drills and training exercises is going to do the trick. Some real boxers get bored doing this, let alone trying to make it fun in a game!

I don't have any special insight on MMA. I'll be interested to see what they do as far as career content. I will say that even if it doesn't have incredible depth, it doesn't mean the game can't be successful. That game will launch in the same window that FNR3 did last gen. If the installed base is big enough and it's a fun game to play it could do pretty well.

Overall I'm a fan of anything that can be done to show value in combat sports as a genre. I'll be rooting for this game because if it does well I think it can help the health of the category, which can also be a good look for a boxing game down the road.

          As always great insight.
