I agree with this, the whole "boxing is dying" thing is so overblown. And IMO, the sport is thriving pretty well, there's plenty of good fights to be made and a lot of talent around. Boxing is doing well. Plus, people have been saying boxing is dying for decades and it's still here.

Floyd's two day old Instagram post.

              DownGoesPaC

So is this to stir up interest or a reason he doesn't have to fight Paquiao?

I have to believe Floyd vs Pac is in the works or a done deal. There is literally no alternative for both. People have grown weary of Floyds sparring matches and as a result his PPV numbers are dwindling. Pac has redeemed himself to the point where he is showing some dominance in the ring. This is it the time is now the earning potential and interest in the fight is almost at the level it was three years ago. I think a two fight deal will finalize both careers a the first fight will be close and competitive enough to warrant a rematch. I see both fighters taking punishment wich will essentially end their careers. No way both are leaving that ridiculous amount of guaranteed money and PPV money on the table...Its on baby!!!!

Rumors of sorts that Pac has accepted a $60 million-$100 million split favoring Floyd.

If true he's managed to make another $20 million over the previous "best offer". Good for Manny.

I've heard the rumors, but after all the times when the fight was so close to be finalized and then canceled, i'll believe it when i see it. It's very possible, but i'm gonna remain skeptical.

See though, i don't really care now. I mean I'll want to hear who won, but before when they were both on top it would have been magic. I would have gone to see that fight at a bar then...as a non boxing fan. Now I won't though....

                        Their greed lost them money.

They will still get paid. The purse was probably going to be $100 million whenever they fought, but boxing in general missed out on a glorious opportunity a few years back. Casual sports fans would have flocked to this fight a couple years ago, now most people have your perspective.

At this point its a money grab, I'll still go see it at the theatre because I love boxing, but even I'm not that interested in it any more. I already know the outcome now....

                          1. Manny is going to try to force the action and he's going to get caught and KO'd like Hatton or
                          2. Many is going to be cautious and Floyd dances to an easy win.

Either way today's Manny will not look good against Floyd, 3 or 4 years ago at the right weight, this was a very interesting fight.

^I would of rather seen the fight a couple years ago too, although i think the outcome is still the same(floyd by UD). Alot of people act like pacquiao is the only one who lost some speed(not saying you) and say an earlier version would beat floyd, but people forget floyd is still 2 years older. Not to mention, he was faster at that time too.

I don't think floyd now KO's pac, if they fought in their prime he MIGHT have a chance, because pacquiao would leave himself open more, but i feel like the current pacquiao is a bit smarter than he was and not as wild. Plus, he does have a solid chin.

Hmmm...why would any hypothetical about this fight include a possible Floyd KO victory? Over nine years at 147 or above, Mayweather has KOed 3 opponents out of 13, including the Victor Ortiz knockout debacle.

Whether this fight happened a few years ago, or 6 months from now I really don't know what happens. It's at a point where even the most ardent Floyd supporters will have a hard time defending him not answering the challenge.
