Re: Online Destroyed Again
I fought some cheesers who bring some Frankenstein created fighters in. One fight I was Bernard Hopkins and my best punch was a right cross to the kneecap. I don't know what to think about this game-it seems that the haymaker is so powerful that it becomes a game of haymakers.Comment

Re: Online Destroyed Again
Alot of you are saying stop being so one demensional and learn the buttons...well it would be nice if the button players could learn the anolog as well.
Let me clear this up, I have no issue...and I will repeat.. no issue with the people who play with the buttons. The problem I do have though is the balance issue between the 2 systems, one is superior to the other, that is the complaint.Comment

Re: Online Destroyed Again
I agree that one system is superior and that system is the buttons, or in FNr2 the button/stick combo. I started both FN games with the analog sticks before switching to the button stick combo. I like to do a lot of jab/straight combos to open up my heavier punches and I find it extremely tedious with the anlog stick and I absolutely cannot stand when I intend to throw a left jab and it somehow decides to throw a right straight.
The key to a good game is good control. As far as I'm concerned TPC is a gimmick and a rather sorry one at that.
On the other hand the right stick is perfectly intuitive for blocks and parries. If EA could get past TPC they could improve control greatly by enabling body swaying with the left shift button and the right stick so that you could move when throwing body shots.Comment

Re: Online Destroyed Again
I think it's streching it for to expect people to play with sticks, people are using buttons for the same reason people buy arcade joysticks to play tekken...unlike you they are playing the game to WIN like it or not, this is just a reality of online play that you have to deal with.Comment

Re: Online Destroyed Again
Lets put it this way..how many of you button users play with the dpad versus the analog stick as far as character movement. Didn't everyone conform to analog sticks once the N64 and the second PS1 controller came in? Why does XBOX and Nintendo have an analog stick where the dpad usually goes on a controller? Its called evolution. EA sports in trying to revolutionize controlling in boxing games. So I say eliminate button use. Make them conform to the analogs because the rest of the industry is leading that way anyhow. I love the total punch scheme. I admit sometimes I end up throwing a different punch then intended but thats with any game. No one can say they never unintentionall pressed the wrong receiver icon when playing their favorite football game either. Analog gives you more control and I support analog control schemes for boxing games. Think about it this way. Can you throw a right and left handed punch at the same time? I mean you can but what boxer actually does that? What TPC does is simulate that allowing you only to throw one punch at a time per hand just like a real boxer would. Look how much better this game is rated now with the new scheme. Why can't the button users learn to accept this change and use the analog stick. And before you can reply why dont the analog users learn to use the buttons, think of this: Didn't the old knockout king games all have button controls? Didn't the game seem to much like a button mashing contest? Didn't the game let some novice rookie beat a seasoned veteran because he could move his thumbs faster? TOTAL PUNCH CONTROL IS THE FUTURE OF BOXING GAMES. It's the Savior for boxing games. I for one want to see gratification in victory and not because I pressed the x button faster than Joe Schmoe. That is all i have to say for now.According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.Comment

Re: Online Destroyed Again
I'm not sure the button/stick controversy is that big a deal considering your most important online weapons are the jab (easily pulled off with the stick) and the haymaker (stick only). The more accurate and easily landed jab is great for scoring points and has even more significance because of the less powerful regular hooks and uppercuts. I've won my last two fights concentrating on scoring with the jab and setting up an occassional haymaker. Despite being out hooked and out uppercutted 114-59, I out jabbed (273-104) and out haymakered(20-0,although my opponent missed 8 haymakers) my opponent enough to win 97-93 on all cards. The fight before that I was out haymakered 90-40 (my opponent threw 228 haymakers) but I ate him up with the jab (over 400 landed) and won every round on 2 of the scorecards. At least for now the buttoned hooks and uppercuts are cleary secondary weapons , especially considering the fact that a botched haymaker hook or uppercut becomes a regular hook or uppercut anyway-you might as well keep your opponent honest with the presence of the more powerful haymaker.Comment

this game uses buttons...and its NOT a button masher...so u can't say that either...
stop trying to force the "evolution" of analog punching...you're closeminded and everyone does not think like you...
how would you feel if they "revolutionized" fight night by making it a permanent birds eye view of the ring saying "u can now see the whole ring"....u think everyone should be forced to use that? Analog punching is and should always be an option...not forced.Last edited by Nkredible; 03-04-2005, 08:15 PM.Comment
