Its called evolution. EA sports in trying to revolutionize controlling in boxing games. So I say eliminate button use. Make them conform to the analogs because the rest of the industry is leading that way anyhow. I love the total punch scheme. I admit sometimes I end up throwing a different punch then intended but thats with any game. No one can say they never unintentionall pressed the wrong receiver icon when playing their favorite football game either. Analog gives you more control and I support analog control schemes for boxing games. Think about it this way. Can you throw a right and left handed punch at the same time? I mean you can but what boxer actually does that? What TPC does is simulate that allowing you only to throw one punch at a time per hand just like a real boxer would. Look how much better this game is rated now with the new scheme. Why can't the button users learn to accept this change and use the analog stick. And before you can reply why dont the analog users learn to use the buttons, think of this: Didn't the old knockout king games all have button controls? Didn't the game seem to much like a button mashing contest? Didn't the game let some novice rookie beat a seasoned veteran because he could move his thumbs faster? TOTAL PUNCH CONTROL IS THE FUTURE OF BOXING GAMES. It's the Savior for boxing games. I for one want to see gratification in victory and not because I pressed the x button faster than Joe Schmoe. That is all i have to say for now.
im sorry..but changing from a dpad to analog is NOT the same as changing from buttons to analog...NOBODY wants to play in the future with nuttin but analogs and no buttons....please dont use that analogy because its just off...analog IMPROVED effectiveness of moving....giving you more degrees of movement...

this game uses buttons...and its NOT a button masher...so u can't say that either...

stop trying to force the "evolution" of analog punching...you're closeminded and everyone does not think like you...

how would you feel if they "revolutionized" fight night by making it a permanent birds eye view of the ring saying "u can now see the whole ring"....u think everyone should be forced to use that? Analog punching is and should always be an option...not forced.

Maybe thier should be a profile stat of wether you use analog TPC or the face buttons that way we can choose who to fight if you have a prefrence.

The key to a good game is good control. As far as I'm concerned TPC is a gimmick and a rather sorry one at that.

On the other hand the right stick is perfectly intuitive for blocks and parries. If EA could get past TPC they could improve control greatly by enabling body swaying with the left shift button and the right stick so that you could move when throwing body shots.

          I agree 100%

Last years rendition was the same as well, it comes off more as a gimmick than anything else.

I would try to use the analog stick for punching (really, a stupid gameplay implemintation if you think about it, wtf are buttons made for? lol). But my son (who uses buttons) would proceed to beat the living snot out of me.

          Well guess what I did?

Thats right, I switched to the buttons, and we all know who won after I switched,.................me.

I personally use the buttons. I think the analogue stick takes all the enjoyment outta the game. Im not a button masher, in that im a counter puncher, so i dont just tap the buttons repeatedly. I hated the stick last year, and still do. If you choose to use it, i dont care, but dont whine about getting wooped by someone who uses the buttons either.

It sure does suck fighting four 6'8" heavyweights in a row when you are only 5'11".

People just get mad that they can't win and they want to complain about stuff that they can't compete with. I don't have the game yet but this is a common theme whenever someone starts losing online. They always start complaining about how other people are cheating.

Thats not true.. I have no problem when ppl beat me online in FN05... BUT the ones that just **** their fist back & follow me around the ring the entire match is gay. I don't care how often I make them miss or not.. I want to have a boxing match.. Not a rock'um, sockum, who can land the hardest haymaker match..

I understand your frustration Kool, but the bottom line is that against these types of opponents you have to keep them honest with the ability to throw haymakers too. Then you can beat them with other facets of your game. I'm in the same boat as you though-I get clobbered by the consistent haymaker punchers.
