Playing a career on Hard level..Some Observations

I started a career with Vitali Klitcshko and entered the Amateur ranks. I loved the 2 minute round and 4 minute fights. I Finished winning the amateur belt with a 10-2-2 record with 3ko's including stopping the champ on cut damage in the 3rd. Not many KO's, but there aren't in amateurs either so it was good.

I then started my career in heavyweight. I quickly built up a 12-0 record with 8 KO's...then my 13th fight, I faced a counter puncher was putting up a heck of a fight and he was winning on the cards by a narrow margin, but he stopped me on cuts in the 8th. 12-1 ranked 28th or so still wasn't bad. I KO'd that guy in the rematch.

Then I got up to 17-1, ranked in the low 20's and everything was fine until I realized that pretty much every Heavyweight that was available to fight was a fat power puncher(some looked like circus clowns)-Not real realistic. So I fought one and he totally creamed me, KO'ing me in the 5th. I tried a rematch, because he KO'd me by throwing 150 punches a round through 5. I thought, stick and move and counter...no dice. I went down for the count in the 8th. Now, I'm 17-3 and figure, I better step back and think this through so I fought the lwest ranked scrub I could find and squeeked out an 8 round decision, not very impressive.

I figured lets go for the Everlast Charity tournament that doesn't count against your record but unlocks things. Downside, it takes 26 weeks to train for it but paid some decent money. I get flash KO'd in the 3rd...So I got ticked and tried it again. I got flash KO'd in the 4th round the next time. Unbelievable. A year out of the prime of my career gone and nothing to show for it.

I get back in the ring and get in a pretty tough battle with a speed guy, but got disqualified after only thrwing my 2nd headbutt.....18-4 now this is terrible because I'm againg and treading water around #20. I fight another power guy and get stopped on cuts again. now I'm 18-5 and the option to fight at Light Heavy(I know unrealistic for a guy Vitalis size) so I took it.

I won my first two fights convincingly to get ranked 15th and then I fought a midget....Honestly, he only came up to Vitali's waste. He got inside and pummeled me....The guy was so short that even when I parried and threw a punch it would fly over his head and if I tried to lean down to puch his belly, he threw an uppercut heymaker. I was KO'd in 9 on my first trip to the mat.

20-6 now and I was seriously thinking of calling it quits but I saw that Jeff Lacy was ranked 22nd, so I though ok one more fight. I KO'd him in the 3rd. He was horrible, I landed 10 straight punches a mix of crosses straights, and a haymaker that finished his night....Then I got my roll on, rejuvenated after the fight, I went on a tear. I got up to #4 and fought the #2 guy who was 54-1-1...I beat him pretty badly in a 12 round decsision. The guy was tough as nails. I landed 500+ punches against him, but I was totally punched out by the 10th round. I moved up to #3, he stayed #2. I KO'd him in 5 in the rematch. In the championship fight, I went down in the 3rd, but rallied for a 7th round KO and the light heavyweight belt was mine. The Champ and #2 guy were speed boxers that just couldn't compete with the reach and power of Klitschko.

Now I've been offered the chance to fight for the Heavyweight belt. The HW champion has maxed out power, chin, heart, and almost maxed out stamina. I can defend the title against the #2 LHW, but he is a balanced fighter with really good stats everywhere. Both fights pay Multi Millions. I'm standing at age 34 29-6-0 with 20 KO's. The game has really grown on me. I really enjoy it.

    But here are the flaws...
    1. Too many fat guys in the HW ranks.
    2. The power punches never run out of gas like they should, Even with 1/2 stamina, they still throw 100+ punches per round into the 8th round.
    3. Should be able to stop the fight with body and nose damage.
    4. Can't see the rankings of other divisions besides the one you're in.
    5. WHat happened to the yearly awards..Best newcomer, Fighter of the year, KO of the year, fight of the year, defensive specialist, etc.
    6. They really need to make the round length adjustable.
    7. Sometimes it takes multiple..4 or 5 knockdowns for the guy to stay down although I have a few knockouts on the first knockdown.
    8. They need a tale of the tape and list fighters current stats so you know what you're in for before you sign to fight...I would have never fought the fat midget.
    9. I would like to see all fighters history, who they fought, how the fight turned out, etc. Last year they showed last 5 fight, this year nothing.
    10. More types of training like road work and sparring.
    11. More types of intro music, didn't Kudo say it wouldn't be all rap this year?
    12. Ability to change hair style and even some facial features.
    13. Permanent damage that can shorten career.
    14. Hand, rib, nose damage recorded.

That's about all I can think of. There are alot of flaws in this game, but for some reason, I can't put it down. On Hard level this game is a serious challenge for me. The Power punchers eat me for lunch. I need to work on that.

Despite all the flaws you mentioned, it seems to be an entertaining game. I've yet to play career mode. I jumped into the online fire right away (and am getting BURNED!!).

Yes, playing it on hard is a very good challenge and entertaining. My goal is to see if I can get anyone to go 49-0 on hard level so I should have alot of replay value.

One mroe thing, they need to let you come to the ring with the belt like last year! whats up with taking that out, its a long hard battle to get there especially on hard level and really no reward when you acheive it. Winning the title belt is your reward the thing you fought for I wish EA would treat it as such. I was happy with how they did it in last years game, where you would walk to the ring with the belt, be introduced as champion, and in all the menu screens your guy would be sportin his flashy belt as long as you still had it. Why did they remove this from the game ?

Re: Playing a career on Hard level..Some Observations

^^An update on my Klitschko career.....

After winning the Light Heavyweight belt, I was offered an opportunity to go back up to heavy weight and fight for the belt. It required 52 weeks of training to get back into shape. When I moved back up to HW, I was ranked #5. This was extremely realistic to me, also the risk/reward was there because if I move up to HW and fight for the belt and lose, I would drop back to #8 or so and have lost a year out of my prime preparing for the fight, also it would take another 52 weeks if I wanted to go back down to LW after the fight. So really a 2 year commitment to take this fight if I lost......Very risky.

Anyway, I KO'd the HW champ for the belt. Then I fought for the Unified belt and won a grueling 12 round decision. I only knocked the other guy down once and he knocked me down in the 12th, I thought I was finished, but got up at 7 to claim the unanimous decision.

After winning this belt, I looked around at my options now having 3 belts...The most lucrative was to defend the LHW against Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy. I had knocked him out in the 3rd round when he was a young up and comer. His record was now 35-1 and he was the #1 contender. I figured it made for a good story line so I took the fight. He smoked me in 6 rounds and I lost the belt. Alright, I'm gonnaget back whats mine. He smoked me again in the 8th round......I was starting to show my age at 38. I dropped down to #3 LHW, but still had my other 2 belts....So I fought the #2 LHW and he gave me all I could handle. He was hast and powerful and knocked me down 3 times in the first 5 rounds...However in the 6th I knocked him down with a body shot and then knocked him down again with a jackhammer special punch and he did not get up, a 6 round KO.....

I was now the #1 contender to Lacey at Light Heavy and had the option to defend my HW title or be stripped of the belt or fight for the LHW title....

I went with Klitschko vs. Lacy IV The final Showdown....If I lost I was going to hang it up. 32-8-0 with 22 KO's, my record was going south and at age 40 so were my stats. I was unable to improve anything even with a good heavy bag workout...So the fight starts and I was going to stick and move and counter but 30 seconds into it I was flash knock downed and had to hang on the rest of round 1 as he stalked me all around the ring. Round 2 more of the same, he caught with a few Hay makers early and so I jabbed my way through the round without going down but he won the round and my stamina was lowered. In the 3rd he caught me early again but as he came in to throw a body shot, I flashed him with an uppercut to the chin....I wn the round 3, but round 4 he got his reveng and put me to the mat.....Rounds 5 through 8 were pretty much all Lacy although Klit6schko got a few good counters in and may have stolen rounds 6 or 7 but they were close....In the 9th, Klitschko was on his last legs after getting trounced by a 3 HM combo at the start of the round, Klitshko's stamina was bareley visible and Lacey still had about 40 % to half of his stamina left. Lacy comes stalkiing in and traps Klitscho by the ropes in the corner and a haymaker to the body almost sends Klitshko to the canvas, he was maybe 1 punch away from the "KO Moment"....Klitschko puts up his guard and turns to move out of the corner, Lacy steps in again.....BAM!!!! Klitscko hits him with a haymaker to the temple as Klitscho was actually backing up along the ropes.....Lacy goes down in a heap, rolls on his side on the count of 8 and never even gets to his feet(I thought he would at least get up and fall back down).....Klitshcko wins on a FLASH KO!!!! A %*%^* FLASH KO(Rocky theme pops into my head. the cards had the fight 85-81 roughly with Lacy up by around four points on each card......

Now at age 40 with a record of 33-8-0 with 23KO's, I think I may retire and go out on top......
                    Chalepa Ta Kala.....

I agree man. EA always seems to take two steps forward and one step back. It blows my mind with some of the stuff they do.
