My coles notes on the recent patch is online good, offline bad.

online I'm backing to winning with boxing strategy and spammers are getting killed either by gassing on power punches or gassing because they over-throw.

offline - the AI just cheats. You'll be outboxing then it will stun you or drain your health way faster regardless of stats. You cannot change difficulty in career - I wish I started at 'normal' because on pro and undisputed the AI def feels cheap.

I may start a new career and put my main one on ice until december. The new one I'll do at a lower difficutly and maybe use a licensed boxer - haven't done that yet and it could be fun. Online is decent right now though, so I'm good for a bit either way.

I'm testing right now with 3 career modes going. Undisputed definitely will cheat you. I bumped down to intermediate and it feels great, stamina was pretty even all the time, and you can actually knock down the A.I. similar to how they can knock you down on Undisputed difficulty. However, it may be too easy (I cant really determine yet because I'm only 3 fights in). I started another at pro to see where that goes. Undisputed difficulty is most definitely off the table I'll say, and I'm thinking pro will be the sweet spot for me (I'll see how that goes after what you just said about pro). Right now, intermediate feels pretty good.

yeah, I'd stick with it there - I did a bunch of random quick fights yesterday and intermediate on simulation is the most fun. I had a trillogy w/ plant vs mugia and as plant sim blocking was fun/challenging out of his philly shell - for those that don't know in simulation while holding block you move the RS and defend different areas - I was still getting dropped here and there on intermediate.

Just picked this up today and I’m already obsessed with it. First few fights I came out like a barbarian and was done after 3 rounds. You really have to be strategic and pace yourself in this game and I love it. Jabs are your best friend.

Wonder what the chances are that they increase the number of fighters we can create in the upcoming patch? I could have sworn that I saw Youtubers with way more than 25 created fighters before the game was officially released.

no they were just messing around with save files - they could never have more than 25 at any given time, they had to move files around.

Glad you're enjoying - I'll be picking up this pack on the 12th and hoping for the best as far as the patch especially for offline - I doubt they squeezed the clinch back in, but reducing punch tracking would be awesome if they do that.
Everyone is flaming steel city for adding jake paul, but also getting buster douglas, Zhilei Zhang, Otto Wallin and Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Márquez - NOT BAD! I'm a huge boxing fan though so I'll get everything other than all-female pack.

I also bet they release 1-2 free fighters and other small surprises.

This is what is 100% confirmed by their brief PR: "Two new venues, new animations for knockouts and knockdowns, movement up and down in weight class for Career Mode, audio and UI changes"

Everything We Know About Tomorrow’s Undisputed Update (so far):

-Bantamweight, Light Heavyweight, Cruiserweight will now be playable online

-New KO animations, stamina & QoL changes

-The ability to move up and down weights in career mode

-7 new fighters, 5 kits, & 2 venues

This list is from combat esports media on Twitter. It lists a few more things than the official list had. I think these guys have an inside track.

I have no problem with them adding Jake Paul. Not a fan but he gets young people talking about boxing, which is needed. MMA has taken all of the young fanbase, so we need something to bring them back. If he's it, then so be it. But all of the flaming steel city is getting is completely unnecessary. I think they've done a great job for a first attempt, and appear to be trying very hard to make the game better.

Welcome back to Undisputed. This update brings you new venues, a significant update to career mode, quality-of-life improvements, and more. Read the full notes below.
New Venues

Added Cambrian Hall. Located in the heart of England’s Capital and draped in rich boxing history, fighting at this venue is every prospect’s dream.
Added Atlantis, an underwater aquarium-like venue, located on the ocean bed. Can you keep your composure in the ring when you’re deep under water?

New Cosmetics

All players will receive an additional free outfit for Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk – recreate their historic first fight in all its glory with their fight-accurate outfits.

Career Mode

Introduced the ability for players to move up and down a weight class from their starting weight class. We know this is one a lot of you have been asking for and we’re excited to see you step up to the challenge of becoming Undisputed in not one, not two, but three weight classes with the same fighter!
Introduced the esteemed boxing correspondent Gareth A Davies to the Career Mode media feed, the first in a series of real-life media figures and brands.
Made a range of quality-of-life improvements to the career mode’s UI.

General Changes

Introduced Cruiserweight, Bantamweight, and Light Heavyweight queues to online quick fight and online ranked.
Added new knockdown and knockout animations.
Added an animation that plays when a fighter’s block health has been depleted, giving players better visual feedback during gameplay.
Slightly reduced stamina cost on missed punches and power punches to make combination and pressure fighting a more viable option.
Made a range of quality-of-life improvements to game audio and commentary.
Made performance optimisations to custom characters.
Fixed an issue that meant players that quit out of online games on PlayStation weren’t being punished, and the win was not being correctly awarded to the remaining player. This now works as expected.
Many other bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

I played a lot last night. The game is basically unchanged although they tweaked stamina slightly and I feel like they added more damage to counters and reduced damage to 'normal' punches slightly as well.

Tracking wasn't touched and my biggest gripe with the game is that good head movement is not viable. I'm talking about L2 - leaning back is the only thing that works, you can't really duck under hooks and you can't really sway left and right to avoid jabs and crosses - this could be fixed with a slightly larger range of motion for l2 as well as cutting off punch tracking as the punch starts to travel towards the target. I may even make a video for them about this lol.
Clinching is the other biggie they need.

Having said that - I do have to give them credit. I'm winning a bit more than I lose and I always pick guys in the 80s for ranked. I even won using Lawrence
Okolie last night - I say that because you can overcome being out-matched by using strategy and adjusting to your opponent - that is HUGE for online staying power. It also encourages others to use non ALI fighters lol - I do see a lot of larry holmes and ali but also last night saw rocky, wilder, johnny nelson (twice), douglas, ... anyway as long as I can beat those top ATG's with lower rated guys I think that's a good thing.

I play on intermediate and it seems like I have had a lot more of a variety of matches since the patch. I’ve played a bunch of quick fights with created boxers and have won 6 with 4 KOs. I’ve lost 3 and was knocked out during one. The other two were unanimous and a split. Some of the matches have been strategic and some have turned into slugfests. The game feels more challenging now than it did.

Game feels a bit faster and smoother than before (online) imo, and the stamina adjustment made a WORLD of difference! You can pressure a bit more if you pace correctly.

Have to agree on the punch registration and tracking issue. While offensively it doesn't bother me too much, on defense it does do away with good inside fighting due to the punches tracking too much and like you say its making the lean completely ineffective.

Same on the win/loss record here as well. I've been winning the majority of my most recent fights and just moved up to Silver 3. Thats a good thing, it appears to have a better balance between strategy and just swinging for the fences, I think they've straddled the sim/arcade line decent for this patch. You can win using both ways, which may keep a bigger player base.

This patch was kinda oversold for me, was originally touted as a big update so I assumed the big things (punch tracking, lack of viable rolling and ducking) would be fixed. For example, the body straight is still weirdly short so matter how close I am when I throw it. The hooks are also super wide and you tend to try and go over the opponents raised guard for some reason. The straight is still incredibly slow unless you pick RJJ's punch style.

The power jab is now unusable as its so slow but a regular jab is either always blocked by the AI or simply doesn't stop them coming forward.

The AI in dazed mode is still incredibly frustrating, blocking high and low in a way that'd make Pernell Whittaker proud.

The game needs to understand that being rocked constantly is tiring in itself, so someone being knocked down 7 times shouldn't have 94% stamina by round 7 while you have 68% from having to throw an eight punch combo to get a knockdown.

I'm typically a career mode player, but have dabbled with online and was able to beat the power punch Wilder spammers pretty easily (Got several KO's as Joe Joyce against Wilder).

I feel like this game can be fun sometimes but ultimately needed another year in early access. I feel like there's a happy medium between Fight Night and Undisputed in which the perfect boxing game exists.

That’s a good assessment and more or less how I feel. Overall I’m enjoying it and it can be beautiful when it works and you get those beautiful KO’s where the physics look great. But sone issues are holding it back. Hopefully they’re fixable issues.
