    Tyson please give it up!

The former heavyweight champion will fight for the first time in nearly a year, facing journeyman Kevin McBride on June 11 at Washington's MCI Center, a boxing source told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday. Tyson and promoter Marty Wynn planned to announce the bout at a news conference Tuesday, the source said.

I guess Mike ran out of money......again.

I wish that he wouldn't do this. The more he tries to reclaim lost glories, the more he makes a fool out of himself. Oh well it's his prerogative but i'd rather remember the Tyson of the '80s.

Its his only skill and source of income. As long as people will pay to watch him, he should fight.

I don't mind if he fights until he's 80. If he wants to do it then let him.

Hey, Tysons last fight would have been a "W" if he hadnt got injured. Think about the shape of the Heavyweight Division. A healthy Tyson could easily be champ again. Your heavyweight champs are:

          WBA - John Ruiz
          WBC - Vitali Klitschko
          IBF - Chris Byrd
          WBO - Lamon Brewster

Right now their are only two challengers in that divison worth mentioning, Hasim Rahman James Toney. The rest of the division is trash.

I have no problem with Tyson continuing to fight. If there is anything that Americans love to see more than their heros/villains fall from stardom it is rooting for those same individuals to claw their way back.

No matter how much of a brute, thug and rapist Mike Tyson is I can't help but feel sorry for him and ask the question, "What could have Mike Tyson been if he had only been surrounded by better people?" And it is because of that curiosity that I, and many others, will always keep one eye peeled open for him.

Tyson beating Byrd at this stage in his career? How long have you been following the sport of boxing?? Only 'clear' win would be against Brewster. I guess Tyson could be 60 & ppl would still pick him to be champion..

A lot of people want to throw dirt on Tyson .. I hope and pray he regains some type of glory at this stage of his career.

I'm tired of hearing dorks like Dan Patrick on the radio saying that Tyson wasn't a great fighter in his prime. Tyson was invented, by the media.. ..??

                  are you kidding me Dan!!!!

                    Lets see....Brewster beat Wladimir Klitschko

Byrd lost (he won, but we all know he lost) his last two fights.
John Ruiz fights like a drunken man walking on ice.

Dude what I am saying is that The Heavyweights suck right now. Anybody that weighs enough has a shot at being champ, including Tyson.

The problem with Tyson is that I think his power came from his quickness and he's lost alot of his explosiveness. However, I think he could Brewster and Ruiz, but he better get to Ruiz early or he'll get frustrated and end up getting KO'd. Bird would dance around until Tyson was worn out and steal the last 10 seconds of each round. I think he'd beat Brewster no problem. Golota is going to beat Brewster no problem. Klitshcko woould destroy Tyson, it just wouldn't be pretty. He wouldn't be able to ge inside on him.

Hopefully, Tyson has a good showing in his upcoming fight, destroys Holyfield in a PPV nobody want to see and then fights the Brewster/Golota winner for the Title.

Tyson is probubly the only guy i would pay to see fight. I cant stand watching 99% of the heavyweights fight.

Re: Tyson please give it up!

Tyson was great in his prime but his prime was short and he was a media creation to a point. He only had a 3 or 4 year span where he was at his best but alot of it was due to his opponents being scared ****less of him and running away from him in the ring because the media portrayed him as a monster so it was hard to guage whether his success was due to talent or intimidation. When he finally fought some guys like Buster and Evander who weren't scared he was made to look rather ordinary. When I look at some of his early fights he was a great power puncher but he left himself open when he attacked looking for the uppercut which made him predictable and one dimensional. A quick boxer with a good jab could pick him apart but he never faced anybody who would do that. That was never exposed until he fought Douglas. Had he fought a rematch with Douglas it would have been the same result. Had he fought Ali or Holmes or even Frazier with both in thier prime I think he would have been easily defeated because he would be easy to figure out.

That's why I was suprised Spinks lost so quickly to him because if he was actually prepared instead of taking the money and falling down at the 1st punch he had the skill to give Tyson fits.

I understand your point, but guys weren't lining up to fight Tyson, it was the polar opposite. The loss to Douglass was very foolish.
