Yeah but during the beginning of Tyson's career the heavyweight division was pretty much like today, the competition was terrible. Before he fought Douglas the only guy Tyson fought who had any talent was Spinks. Unless you count Larry Holmes who was in his 40's by then or the legendary Trever Berbick.

He didn't fight Evander then because of money issues and he was still trying to bulk up to heavyweight. Evander wasn't scared of him he pounded him in their amateur fight and knew how to beat him which he did easily later.

Although Tyson looked unprepared against Buster, he had Tyson thoroughly confused because he didn't back down like everybody else would and kept sticking the jab in his face and right crosses when he was trying to go inside. Tyson had no other means of attack and would do the same thing over and over and would get punished for it. Tyson is not a smart fighter and couldn't adjust. It wasn't a fluke, he was totally dominated and his weak defense was exposed by an average but smart fighter. Tyson was very overrated because he never beat any great heavyweight in his career.

how easily we forget that tyson knocked douglas down in that fight and if not for the referee not starting the count right the result would of been tyson by ko. Mike tyson has one of the best chins the heavy's have ever seen. Just watch the wars he had with razor ruddick. And dont forget he fought holy after a 3 year absence from the sport.

How easily we forget it was a flash knockdown and Buster was hardly dazed and was banging the canvas with his glove for making a mistake. Yes the count started late because Tyson wouldn't move away and Buster simply took his time getting up knowing that he didn't have to get up until 8 and was never in trouble the rest of the round. He then promptly pounded Tyson for the next 2 rounds before knocking him into oblivion. Watch the fight again when it's on ESPN classic and you'll see how one sided it was and Tyson won maybe 1 round and was pounded every other round.

While Ruddick could hold his own I wouldn't consider him a great heavyweight and he just got into a slugfest with Tyson which you're bound to lose. He got his reputation by beating up an old Gerry Cooney and did nothing after the Tyson fights. Tyson didn't fight Holyfield straight out of prison, he had at least 1 tune up fight (maybe 2, can't remember) was the younger fighter and was getting his *** handed to him in thier 2nd fight before he got hungry. He knew he was gonna lose again and figured a well placed chomp on the ear would prevent that. He acted like a 5 year old because the fight wasn't going his way and he couldn't counter Evander's well placed shots.

What makes a great fighter is beating other great fighters and Tyson never did that, the only 2 fighters he went against with great talent were Holyfield and Lewis and was embarrased against both and Tyson was younger than both. Having a great chin means taking hard shots and going the distance. With all his losses he could barely walk before he was sent to the canvas after 8 or 9 rounds. Ali had a great chin, Tyson's was average at best.

Re: Tyson please give it up!

Mike Tyson at one time was THE dominant athlete in the world. He was on the level of Jordan and Tiger in terms of popularity and marketability. The only problem was that he is a sociopath. In his prime years of the mid-1980's he was as dominant a heavyweight as there ever was. He regularly terrified men who's profession was based on not being afraid of anyone. But in the end, his own psychological problems led to his downfall. In terms of boxing ability, he is not even a shell of what he once was.

But the hard reality is that Mike needs money. And what else is this man going to do to earn a living?
