The other Klitschko(sp?) brother (Vladamir) for pretty much the same reasons as above. He was touted as the next champion and better than his brother until he fought that South African guy and got his clock cleaned. -

Sugar Shane Mosely was the most overhyped until Winky exposed him.
Baby Joe Mesi had a great record and probably would have got his clock cleaned by the Big Boys, but I doubt he'll ever fight again. The Nevada commission has put a permanant ban on letting him fight due to his head injuries during the Jirov fight.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Originally posted by fistofrageI could understand losing to Sanders, that guy can bring the pain for 3 rounds until he's winded, but when Wlad lost to Brewster, he had some serious explainin to do. I still think he looked like he was diabetic during the Brewster fight. Unless his jaw is just that weak. I'm going to watch him Saturday on HBO.
Either way although he has good mechanics his defense and jaw are terrible and he was woefully exposed against the southpaw Sanders. At least his brother knew enough to stay out of the way until Sanders punched himself out.
Another guy I think is overrated is Antonio Tarver, He twice fought a disinterested Jones and showed nothing against a journeyman like Glen Johnson.Last edited by Guest; 04-20-2005, 01:40 AM.Comment

Originally posted by trinity18The Prince was overrated but he had the potential to be great, if he had the proper training, he had a smoothe slip game, not sweet pea smoothe but pretty smoothe none the less.
I agree with you but he was way overhyped. He never really took a punch and when he finally did his career was never the same. He would come out and have these long intros and HBO was in love with him but he never really met the potential or the hype.Comment

The mediocre opposition that Naz routinely faced in Europe made him look alot better than he really was. He was nowhere near the level of fighters like Barrera, Morales, or Pacquiao.Comment

Tommy Morrison.
If he was any color other than white, he never would have even gotten a fight against a top heavyweight. But the boxing world wanted a Great White Hope in the marquee heavyweight category so badly that Morrison climbed the ranks quickly.
What a stiff ...

I'm going to have to agree with the original poster. Micheal Grant was way overhyped, and when he fell, he fell HARD.Comment

Cooney showed a ton of heart and a lot of skill in that fight, as he had Holmes -- one of the most underrated and best heavyweights ever -- reeling for quite awhile.
Take care,
