simply put the devs should've took more inspiration from fight night champion.. it had a champion mode AND legacy mode.. the career in UFC 1 & 2 is basically legacy mode from champion and is arguably worse here.

but to EA the ideology now is why waste time and resources when we can just copy and paste in the same career mode each year with minimal changes and people will still lap it up.. FIFA's career for example has basically been the same since FIFA 12.. i would say they turned their attention to developing "ultimate team" but even that gets minimal changes once its established in the series and it nets them extra income for the life span of the game..

there is no incentive for them to bother at this stage.. and seeing dev's say they care about the single player experience is just laughable.

It's more like, "Hey I was an intern and served coffee to the Fight Night Devs, hmm, I should put Fight Night on my resume..."


EA Interview: "You worked on Fight Night? You're hired!"

EA: "Announcing a new fight simulator, from the same studio that brought you Fight Night..."


So yea it's the same studio as Fight Night but I'm pretty sure there's no one left that actually worked on the Fight Night engine itself. It's literally like they lost all the files from Fight Night and Undisputed and EA just started from scratch with UFC. Makes no sense.

I sure hope that the next patch has more career options to make it more interesting. I'm not talking about changing the concept or anything: just edits to the matchmaking, for instance, and to insure all features already there work properly. I have the feeling nobody here is actually playing career (at least not after unlocking the extra fighters after the first completion).

It's great they already changed the fact that you couldn't change your appearance, which was quite ridiculous, and the retirement counter. But the mode would benefit from a little more attention.

I've been waiting till they fixed the AI to start my career mode and since this patch is coming up soon im rdy to play it again all the way through.

The career mode was so good in fight night. I don't understand how you can go backwards so much.

I had some insane 40+ fight careers.

Pre-patch UFC 2 some guy won the title then was made to retire 3 fights after winning the title. Lol what. That damage meter is so dumb.

Here's an idea. Let's take away the freedom to choose how you want to play. Oh, you took a lot of damage playing on a higher difficulty because you wanted a challenge? Nope sorry, you need to retire after 20 fights. Please start again.

That damage meter is so dumb.

Here's an idea. Let's take away the freedom to choose how you want to play. Oh, you took a lot of damage playing on a higher difficulty because you wanted a challenge? Nope sorry, you need to retire after 20 fights. Please start again.

I don't have problems with the damage meter. The problem is that the damn thing skyrocketed up even if you didn't take any damage at all, not even during training. So it's not a "damage" meter, just a clock.

Since the patch I never even bothered to play career again. You can play longer now but as there's nothing to do except grind title wins defending against 100 overall CaF's. I never even saw half of the real fighters. Good job, EA...

So I played UFC 2 at my cousin's house (under my account), and played Career. I really enjoyed it, and so I went out and got it for myself. I went to career, and my fighter isn't there? Is the game console based or am I missing something? I hope there is a logical explanation for this because it's pretty stupid how I have to start over when I had a perfectly good fighter already... 13-0 working my way up to #1 contender with 300k fans...

You need to save the files to the cloud. Then you can play on different consoles.

If you did not then you have to start over.

How about the next patch introduces some sort of handicap for the simulated fights where the "real" fighter always wins. If I want to fight random CaF's I'll play UT mode. But somehow the real fighters can't beat the generated ones, which leaves you fighting 100 overalls all the time. I've seen the 'real' fighters grow to 100 as well, but not as commonly.

Facing the real fighters is the only thing that can still draw people to this mode of play. So please make sure that that happens.

Yeah, you have to get 1,000,000 fans in career mode to unlock all the fighters. Konami code for Rogan at the start screen.
