I thought that just increased the speed of the gates? I'm referring to the actual applying of the hold, when you press the stick.

If i'm holding someone in side control next to the cage, they can use their feet to walk up the cage, and flip you over for the sweep.

Does anyone know how to deny this?

So I spent couple nights ago attempting to add arm catches to my ground game. The online control scheme shows this R1+RS direction. Now naturally R1 is to block your head and RS in a direction is to transition. So my question is, is this a typo on the control menu OR is there a certain way to do the arm catches? Also what is the timing on utilizing the arm catch?

How can I transition to sitting back control? I know some fighters have a takedown from standing back clinch into sitting back control but how can I get there from the ground? Sometimes I end up there from scrambles but I really like like this position and would like to know how to get there easier.

                  thanks

Couple questions, first, how do you stop the getup when you're in full mount top postured down? The one where the bottom fighter puts his legs underneath you. I've been trying r2 down, but I'm not sure if that's wrong or if I'm not getting the timing down.

Also, when you knock a fighter down from standup, how do you jump on him into top mount? I've seen a couple guys go straight to full mount against me.

Edit: figured out the first, it was r2 up all along

I am encountering a problem of sorts online. In at least 70% of UT fights that I've lost its been due to being put in a health event, straight to MT clinch and KO'd right away, despite the amount of knockdowns I've had on my opponent, despite it being the first time being rocked, and in most instances it's in fights where I've been barely getting hit before hand. Of course I know it's on me to defend the clinch attempt, and the shots (some of which knock me out even when I block the shots, with 0 arm damage). Just wondered if there's a way to combat this, a good counter to the clinch attempt, or a good method of blocking MT attacks, especially in the rocked state?
Also I know it's been mentioned before but there seems to be a huge increase in those online spamming the sliding side kick and 1-2 shots over and over with max heigh max reach characters, is there any good counters to this strategy, without adopting the same tactics myself?

How do you block the ground transitions? Do you flick or hold? I have the feeling that with a little Lag flicking works better, but when there is no lag, flicking don´t seem to work at all. So I wonder how you do it?

Whatever works for you. I hold. Some flick. Holding seems to work for people who aren't getting them using flicks. Holding is also just holding it long enough to see if you got the denial. It can be very short as well.

I like playing ranked until I reach Division 6, I can get there undefeated, however at "top level" it becomes a cheesefest and guys lagging hard to deny and beat me up on the ground when they realize they can not stand with me(which is about 5 seconds into the match).

So far I've been able to enjoy my online experience meaning that I have enough experience to beat any kind of cheeser, leg kick spammer, lagswitcher, Clinch spammer, you name it I'll beat it.

However there is a certain style I still get beat on rare ocassion.

The lagswitcher grappler. This guy would put me into a clinch I would deny his transitions but he would deny my TDs with lag and then counter with an undeniable TD with his lag trick.

Once I'm on bottom they just stall or rush to mount or SC even if I deny on time their lag allows them to finish their transitions like butter, and hold on SC which turns me off completely about this game just like the backside position.

They hold me on SC and keep rotating between denying me and going to Crucifix, no matte if I fake, stall, change my timing or what they seem to hold me down and deny until I have no stamina left and finish by this cheesy way when they know that is their only chance.

I had this sad guy use that Jordan bum guy from Heavyweight and I was Overeem so he started running while popping jabs, I cut the octagon off start whooping his *** and decided to clinch him since he had no stamina left, what a mistake...

They guy works his SC and Crucifix magic and ends the fight in less than 1 min in the first round, this was my first loss in about two weekends(I only play Saturday evenings, all day Sunday, and all morning Mondays).

It felt cheap, I did not quit, did not broke any controllers just sat there trying to figure out how did guy is holding down Overeem with his poor stats like nothing.

I waited for him to finish hugging me, let my stamina replenish only for my fake to be denied, and the same cycle until he finished me.

What can be done on this situations, against these skilled lagswitch grapplers I do not seem to have any answers.

I've handled myself against some skilled grapplers without lag and won but these really skilled at SC and Crucifix seem to lock you down and that is it.

What can I do when these grappling "masters" deny my fakes, my transitions even by following Zhunter's grappling guide such as never been predictable and change up the patterns but nothing seems to work?
relax its just a game. You lost get over it.

You are not the best, everyone can be beat.

Because I didn't get an answer I ask again:
Is the "GPD Guide of Grappling" from the old forums available? I remember there was something about turning reversals from opponents to denials. Does anyone know how to do that?
