Re: New Patch Spoilers
Fair call but I meant relative to engaging in striking exchanges not relative to the game as a whole. At level 6 and above you already have most fighters doing that constant in and out motion for 5 rounds just fishing for a counter. I know this is a real life strategy eg Condit vs Diaz but it makes the game quite boring when most people at level 6 just play for a decision because of how dangerous the striking already is with high and low block separated. Perfect example of this is Martial Mind used to complain when fighters would back up and use movement in EA UFC 1 because he always pressed forward. Now because the blocks have been separated and striking is more dangerous he almost exclusively uses movement and counters for a decision which illustrates striking is dangerous enough in its current form.
By making high block weaker you are going to make people engage less not more. I see this being a good thing for the lower levels in ranked but at the higher levels it's just going to make fighters even more tentative to engage. It's true I am not a fan of the change but let’s see how it plays out. I predict it will make players even more tentative to engage and even less aggressive given their ability to defend has been reduced.Comment

Re: New Patch Spoilers
Instead of adding a Grappling Meter, can you add a Ping indicator on the fighter selecting screen so we can avoid lag fests in quick match?Comment

Re: New Patch Spoilers
The GA meter will more than likely be used for scenario awareness. If you're watching the meter too much you will get transitioned on. Once you put it through the lab, you'll probably never look at it again, but will have a further understanding of GA. GPD put out a under the hood GA video a few months ago... Very informative stuff in there I'm sure a lot of people have no idea about. This level of transparency will ultimately let even the casuals become better players. GPD, since you're implementing this, I hope that "Perfect Swoop meter" is on the way too. That's a game changer there.Comment

We actually had one, but removed it after focus tests came back that people found it distracting.
The GA meter will be exactly what you saw in that video you referenced, only prettier.Comment

Re: New Patch Spoilers
Yes plz, sometimes I find the sub gates hard to see. The green is easy but they could be brighter the colors. When I play during the day with my window open I find the red sub gates really hard to see.Comment

Im hoping this will lead to more people learning the ground game. Im not great standing, I learned ground, and beat most players there quite easily, so in a way Im silly to try and stand, hence not really improving
Hopefully this will mean more of a challenge on the ground, forcing me to up my standup gameComment

Re: New Patch Spoilers
I'm of the opinion that if you're looking at the grapple meter you're not looking for the transition tells and will miss a reverse. Adds in another layer to the ground.
I would understand if its not in competitive though, but I don't think its gonna affect is as badly as you're imaginingComment
