When I'm home playing on weekend I would I get lag maybe 10% of time at most and that would be high. During week I work away and stsy in hotel in middle of nowhere. I play on wifi but open my dns and get lag maybe the same. Seems pretty awesome to me. Without dns open it was unplayable though. Might need to change a few settings to help your internet.

Last week I experience more lagg.
I think Ea is screwing around.
Also I get this message 3 days now,
In order to acces the online features for this title, all active users must be signed
Into Playstation Network and EA servers.
After trying a couple times I can connect.

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
May i ask where do you currently live and play from Haz?
Your location compared to your opponent's location is what matters in having less lag/delay.
If you live somewhere in Western Europe: England/France/Germany, you are one lucky guy. You can connect to players from Eastern Europe/Russia and also connect to the US. You are in the middle and most people with access to a ps4 live in that area.PSN: Lord__Hazanko

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
So, I had about 6 out of ten fights lag just now. I check my internet on my XB1 Hey..maybe IT IS me.
30 Mb DL, 11 UL, 0 Packet Loss, Open DMZ NAT.
So will one of you geniuses who tell me you never lag please tell me what the hell I am doing wrong. Not trying to be a dick. I don't understand.Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
On PS4 I have NAT type 2. Everything I've read indicates this is good, and that all beneficial ports are open. Is there any chance that assigning a static IP and putting in my routers DMZ could help?
I'll give it a try.Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
I wish we could search by connection strength. That's really helpful in Street Fighter. Most of my matches are fine, but then you get some where we really have no business playing each other. Choppy city.Comment

I have my router in a DMZ. I have an open cone Nat. Doesn't help.Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
Of course it will never happen, but would amazing if someone from EA would investigate the connections of some of the people complaining that the game is entirely unplayable for them due to lag. There could be some valuable discoveries for them as well.Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
I got into this game over the summer when my youngest son who wrestles Greco at NMU-OTC brought his Xbox and the game home with him. I was totally blown away by the graphics and gameplay (hey the last video game I was addicted to was the arcade version of Pac Man in the 70's) lol. Anyway I know basically nothing about my Xbox which I bought the day he went back to college or even computers ( I am from a different era and it may as well be the 1300's lol). I just started playing online after 4-1/2 months as I am an ex boxer and wanted to get my skill level up to snuff where I am competitive. Well in that department I am doing fine but a lot of my matches lately have some awful lag that makes the game unbearable to play. I have a wireless Fios connection and live in Bklyn NY. Can someone explain what I can (do or buy) to clear up the lag issue in a non technical way that I can understand= Thanks!Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
@straycat113,
For the best online experience, wired connection is best.
But still there's something with the connection/matchmaking.
If I play the AI, the game is so much more fluid.
Iam on Ps4 btw.
I have nat 2. Wired. I dont know. Maybe its the Netcode.
There was a patch a couple months ago, that improved online a lot.
Maybe they can do that trick again?
Iam in Europe NetherlandsComment

i blame netcode and lag compensation. game gives advantage to laggers
s. one fighter is delayed other one is smooth as hell. this leads to striking air while other is like Neo from matrix.Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
best is when 57 ground defense arm traps everything or when guy with nonexisting standup parries everything, when 57 sub defense needs to be submitted by 100sub skill on 20th attempt.. i seriously never seen such a bad netcode ever, it s just 2ppls.. but p2p is culprit too. thats why we need dedicated serversComment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
I agree and this is something I constantly harp to the devs about. Going forward, the franchise MUST have region lock.
EDIT: I see there is some confusion in this thread. Allow me to clarify.
This game is P2P. That means it DOES NOT MATTER how great your internet connection is. If the other guy's connection SUCKS...OR if he lives thousands of miles away, the game is gonna lag...PERIOD. You are limited by the other guy's connection and the time it takes for packets to travel from you to him and vice versa, which is exacerbated by distance.
If the other guy lives thousands of miles away AND his connection sucks (which is often the case), congrats, you're playing a 2FPS slideshow.
This DESTROYS the competitive potential of the game. Add onto the fact that there are certain gameplay scenarios where blocking on reaction is critical, and you have set your player base up for a world of cheese, exploits, and abuse.
I have checked the player profiles of the laggers I face, and many are from China and Russia. Like, really? I live in the southern US.
Region lock or bust going forward...Last edited by ZombieRommel; 11-04-2016, 10:29 PM.ZombieRommel on YouTube - UFC3 coverage has begun!Comment

Re: Lag makes this game literally unplayable at on a competitive level
Region lock is best for the best connection and online game expierence.
Iam from Europe, The Netherlands.
I confirm playing against players from Usa,Australia and Russia is most laggy.
But region lock will mean less players to connect with, longer waiting time to find opponent or unable to find opponent.
Cross play we need. Playstation and xbox players play together/each otherComment
