Re: can input lag from TV mess ur timing in this game?

Thanks for the replies. That means I'm still dealing with wifi issues (yeah yeah... hardwire it, right?).

Good to know the lag isn't my TV. Unfortunately it means the thing I bought that plugs into my router on one end of my home, and the other piece plugs into my PS4 isn't a perfect answer.

Now time to spend hours trying to figure out how to optimize the use of the eithernet walkie talkie thing people on here recommended! (BTW, that was t a jab at anyone, it has helped, but it's still not great.)

My reaction time isn't the best, but I don't how I played without a monitor before.

30ms is a pretty big disadvantage if you are playing against another player who let's say has a 1ms gaming monitor. In a game like UFC2 that 29ms reaaaally changes stuff when it comes to grappling.

Re: can input lag from TV mess ur timing in this game?

i tried to play game with Dell ST2220Lc monitor which i bought long time ago for alienware x51, i couldnt find any information on input lag for this monitor, but i guess it will be much more better than refurbished TV from walmart.

human reaction time test went down by 50-100ms which was good. that test wont give u exact input lag number it s just measuring how long it takes for u to see and react to information displayed on screen and reasons can vary

anyway game felt more responsive, but still got submitted in one match

i went back to big screen because monitor is just way too small, i played one match in ranked as BJ Penn vs Maia and i couldnt deny anything, after match i went to single player i picked those two fighters, i tried deny and it worked, also some other fights in UT, guy with 44 sub defense had his gates literally flying, so this is definetely connection issue, it s probably comcast and nail in the coffin is matchmaking, i noticed way too many times when game is literally choppy and i am host on left side, that other guy is getting free deny and extra reaction time

unfortunately i cant afford more than 60bucks for internet a month so i guess this is it and big part of it is that P2P just cant be really balanced and fair ever and dedicated servers would be too expensive i guess

Post your avg time on the reaction test and if you could, post your connection info when you do the check in PS4 / Xbox settings. Mainly just want to look at ping and packet loss (you'll need to check it a few times to get a fair sample size).

i checked 3 times xbox one in detailed network settings
              download 29.15-29.57 mbps
              upload 4.64-5.73
              latency 35-37ms
              packet loss 0-1%
              MTU 1480

but u can see at first of my post in this topic, that i had once latency 60ms, so i dont think overall Comcast offers reliable connection
and i cant really pay more for internet than i pay for car insurance

human benchmark test is 276ms average from 5 tries
that was on that old crappy Sanyo TV

when i connected dell monitor human benchmark went down to 253ms

xbox got wired connection and all ports for xbox live are forwarded
most of the time i am host on the left side

                You should be completely fine.

I ran the speed test awhile back with some of the best players, everyone averaged around 200-230.

Where do you get all that extra info when you run a connection test through the PS4? I just get up and download, which suck with my current connection.

To your earlier point, if I practice for any input latency via my monitor playing against the computer, my grappling is spot on. So my issue is definitely internet connection. My new home is not finished being built yet so I'm stuck making due with these walkie talkie deals someone on here recommended (Ethernet into connects the wall piece to PS4 and pairs with the device which is connected via Ethernet to a router two floors away from where my game is).

All this said, those who understand this stuff, as you can probably tell that I cannot, if I have the lowest tier internet package in my new home, but make sure the router is next to my PS4 so I can hardwire -- is there really any need for a faster connection? I only play fighting and sports games. Non of the stuff it seems like people complain most about.

                  Thanks all!

I actually don't know how / if you can get those readings on PS4.

To answer your last question, the only way to know is if you try it. I guess what you could do is get a laptop and run a speed test while standing next to your router.

However.. the biggest issue with cheap internet is that it won't remain stable, and that's how providers will get you. It's way more important for your internet to not fluctuate in ping / speed than it is for you to have a bit better connection readings.

I'll play people all the time where we'll be completely fine connection wise but then it will randomly get really laggy. That's much worse than playing someone from Europe who has a solid 100 ms latency differential.

what s the value for people with 2ms monitor?

this just confirms this has to be my connection issue, because after long time i tried LW div on UT with almost maxed out fighter, and i couldnt even get away from barrage of combos, felt delayed most of the time and speed of strikes in LW div, just underlined it
