Can input lag from your TV mess with your timing in this game?

i spent some time complaining a lot about lag in this game (denies, striking, subs minigame lagging or acting weird), but it still bugs my mind why is this happening, because some things works better in single player than in multiplayer.
i mean if u see choppy match u know lag is present, but there re some matches u re not sure what exactly is happening.
what i know for sure that reversals or even deny is just not happening sometimes and it has nothing to do with game mechanics.

i guess it might be lag combined with input lag from my tv.
that s only explanation i am getting here
so i want to ask if this is even possible, because my TV is pretty crappy
it s Sanyo Refurbished 39" Class 1080P LED - DP39E23
and i cant even find any info about input lag, TV was something under 300 bucks so i dont really expect some great values there.

thing is when i check my xbox one net settings there s latency 60ms allready listed there, i got Comcast 29 DL, 6 UP and sometimes it does weird crap also, not all the time, but it s comcast not exactly reliable connection.

so i went to http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/
which is supposed at least give some clue about if there s some input lag or not on ur TV
i am getting values around 250ms, which seems a lot

because if my reaction time is 60ms+250ms when i see somebody doing transition or striking, that 310ms is a lot and imagine some other lag at top of it

does anyone have experience with this? did anyone trying play UFC2 on xbox with PC monitor? is there any notable difference? what are ur numbers at that human benchmark test?

I've recently bought a 1ms TV because most people on this forum said it makes a difference - and it does. The game feels much more reactive to strikes and movement on the feet, which is what you need if you want to get the perfect counter punch or whatnot. On the ground as well, just that split second could make all the difference when denying a transition.

In all facets really, it makes a difference. The game just feels that much better when its responding that much quicker to your inputs. If you're wondering, I got the BenQ RLHM2455 about a week ago, and I've been enjoying my experience with it thus far. A massive upgrade from my 18 inch TV monitor imo.

Is it worth it? Yes. But only if you have the money and you're willing to invest in competitive gameplay.

Congrats on the new screen but aren't you gonna upgrade to either PS4 Pro or Xbox Scorpio before UFC 3 comes out? Or is the monitor mainly for PC gaming and you're still planning on buying an HDR 4k TV for the new consoles? just curious

I agree 100%. 1ms monitor is HUGE. I wasn't sure about it myself until top gamers swore by it. I figured why not, The top gamers are on top for a reason, why not take there advice. Ground transitions and denials have been amazing. Rule of thumb, if a top gamer (Kenetic, big cee, etc..) swear by something, DO IT. It will only take ur game to the next level. I'm no the best player, but my W/L and stats have been backing it up too. Hope this helps, happy gaming

I was a little disappointed to read about this on here - TV effects input delay / lag.


There are times I go 2 or 3 games with pretty bad lag. I can win with it sometimes but it just takes the fun out of the game when you're not thinking about what they're doing but instead thinking about trying to compensate for the lag.


Looks like I'll have to purchase a better TV for UFC.

To give you some perspective, the game runs at 30 hz, so a full sim frame is 33 ms.

So a 310 ms delay is almost 10 30 hz frames, or 20 standard 60 hz frames.

The escape from bottom mount to half guard with no GA or stamina advantage with two random fighters I picked is 30 frames.

So on a basic transition like that, you're losing 2/3 of the timing window to lag right off the bat.

Also, dropping from 30 frames to 10 frames makes the transition pretty much impossible to react to.

The fastest transition in the game with max stats and max stamina and GA advantage is I believe 16 frames.

And you'd be below even that for a standard transition.

So yeah, bottom line is it would have a big impact on playability.

Got a monitor last week, wish I got it months ago. It's only 24" but I just put it on a chair or something so it's close to me while I'm on my couch. Think it was like $200 Asus gaming monitor.

Ya it's on sale. I just edited the price in my post. It really is a great monitor if you just want to play UFC games only then just put it away. I have mine setup up on a small computer table next to my big screen 4K tv so I can play on both for when I need to play UFC and other games.

Anything up to 35~ ms is perfectly fine.

45+ it starts getting quite troublesome. Those low ms monitors obviously help, but you will benefit best from them in twitch shooters like Call of Duty, stuff like that.

I think it works great for moving around the octagon and stuff like denying and subs, especially submission because the mini sub game is pretty much a twitch reflex like cod.

That's how I've been able to have the most submission wins in UFC 2 history. No one has more then me on Xbox or PS4. I am the true king and it's because of the monitor. On my old tv I was good but there was always a delay. There were even some people who were able to tap me out quickly. Not no more!

2,000 subs is a lot and I don't think people realize how much and how hard it is to get that many. lol
