My tip is playing EA UFC 3 BETA until it ends.

And do you mean Absolver? If so, I have a guide on the Khalt style, that might interest you. I also have a school for it (on PS4), with a good sword deck. But I haven't played in ages.

WWE 2K18 has been an awesome hold over game for me. The career mode is pretty fun. I've always liked wrestling games though.

Re: The Poor Man's EA UFC 3

I was getting irritated playing UFC the other day when I thought about this thread. I bought Absolver shortly after my last post in here, but I didn't play it very much. I thought the game was cool enough, but walking around and getting my *** beat got old. I didn't really have a good grasp of what was going on at all.

This morning, I decided to start new character since it had been so long since I last played. I was just winging it the first time around, so I made sure to pay closer attention to what was going on during this run.

Once I started playing around with the move editor, it suddenly dawned on me how good the gameplay mechanics are. Being able to build your moves and combos based on the stance you finish each strike in is some next-level ****. I'd like to see more fighting games to do that in the future.

Once I understood that aspect of the game, I spent a while getting my character setup. Doing that made fights more interesting because I knew exactly what I was capable of from every position. Then it became more about thinking and reacting in fights instead of hoping for the best. I still got my *** beat plenty, but this was a much better experience.

I know I'm super late, but I definitely see where OP was going with this thread now. I played 4 or 5 hours this morning and made some good progress. I'm glad I decided to revist the game.

I bought Absolver right when it came out but never really got too into it. Mt experience kind of paralleled yours. Your post makes me kinda want to try and check it out again though!

I will probably mostly just lurk, from now on.

I'm doing QA for UFC. So I'm required to be even more careful than ever, with information.

I'll take this opportunity to thank yall for your support, especially to those "Hire him, EA!" posts. Thanks a lot, fellas!

It just came out. ZombieRommel is also playing it and he also thinks that his experience with the EA UFC game him an edge. And I think I saw Acebaldwin playing it, too.

Absolver doesn't really aim for realism. Its vibe is more towards fight movies. Having said that, the fights look very cinematic and entertaining, not only if you're playing them, but also if you're watching them and know what's going on. That is the case despite the simple graphics and animations, because of the composition of the fight. You gotta work for every hit. There are no ugly *** juggles an dyou don't see characters ducking to block a leg kick with their forearms, as it's common in arcade fight games.

The game is also only half the price of a AAA game. It doesn't focus on grind at all. You can make friends, create your own school of martial arts, where you fully customize all your moves and combos, join the schools of other players, etc. And so far, a few days in after launch, the combat is seeming extremely balanced, which is quite a miracle, considering how open the system is (you can edit every move). Here is a video of one of my recent fights, in case you're interested:

Love the game, haven't finished it despite beating the necessary bosses.
