Walk off KOs are pretty damn rare in real life, mostly cause fighters keep swinging until the ref stops, just to make sure the opponent doesn't recover. (After the Pat Berry vs Kongo fight, I don't blame any of them) Also a lot of the time, in the heat of the moment, fighters don't know if its a KO or just a knockdown so they follow up on the opponent. This happens for almost every KO finish (in fact Overeem vs Ngannou this happened in real life but not the recent update gameplay video).

The removal of KO zoom was a big step because now its harder to tell if its a KO like in real life, so Finish the Fight is realistically a safe bet players can use in the game. Another reason is the fact that when you get the KO from a weak looking strike, like a jab or something, its not very believable or satisfying so at least having the option to jump on the opponent is like a manual player fix to a stupid looking end of the fight.

And lastly, when you land a huge shot and know the fight is over, its 100x cooler to manually get a walk-off KO, rather then it happening every time.
That makes perfect sense, appreciate the explanation mate

No problem man. I appreciate the fact you asked why others want it rather than blindly saying it is a terrible idea.

Re: Additions to the Finish the Fight sequences

This definitely needs to be addressed... Next to actually stepping into the octagon, the end of the fight is one of the more important aspects of professional fighting.

Having the Ref close in when your being punished on the ground gives you a clue that it could end at any moment. Then violently breaking things up when things start to spin out of control.

Currently all 3 games have had a really jarring and weird mechanic for fights ending. I really, REALLY hope they find a way to make the Refs more authentic and actually do their job in this game. From the way they may become more observant if a fight is close to being stopped, threats of Dr. Stoppages, Dr. Stoppages, and the actual act of stopping the fight.

I know EA you haven't added stoppages for balance reasons but I think that's lame. "It's in the game" is your slogan. Stoppages should be in the game.

Furthermore, we now have games almost 10 years old which handled this CRITICAL aspect of MMA in a more realistic manner than this self proclaimed most realistic cage fighting simulation/game. Please address this.

The way it worked in the UFC 3 Beta, was if you straight up KOed someone, it was never possible to Finish the Fight. If you got a "critical knockdown" you could jump on them with Finish the Fight animations to try to KO the opponent, but if you didn't jump on them they would recover.

I want the Finish the Fight to be brought back after actual KOs at the very least.
Also, I feel you should ALWAYS be able to follow up and finish the fight up until the point that the Ref stops you. This should be up to the fighter to determine if they want to jump on top of a seemingly unconscious opponent or not. Noting, some fights have been lost from the aggressor NOT following up a seemingly clear KO.

Is this the reason why people are complaining about not being able to finish the fight in the beta. You'd think you have KOed your opponent but he's pretty fine and then it's a back and forth struggle to end the round later than usual where you think you should have been able to end it all.

Alright guys, so GPD said he has some stuff he wants to reveal, but marketing wants to be the ones to reveal it. I doubt things like "Clinch transition time is reduced by 5%" and the like is "marketing team material".

This combined with the fact strikes after KOs have still not been showed off in a video or discussed by a dev, even though the community has asked about it in numerous threads, is giving me hope one of the reveals is a reworked Finish the Fight system.

If not lets hope we at least get the same system from UFC 2.

                Any word on these changes?
Hopefully soon before the game loses any more momentum because there’s a lot of good games coming out in April March!!!?!?

Re: Additions to the Finish the Fight sequences

Man I'll be so happy if they rework the Finish the Fight feature, that's definitely by a long shot my biggest complaint. I hate knocking someone down and you just stand there and let them up,you should be able to lunge at them as they scramble to their feet and either take them down (think Lesnar vs Herring) or clinch with them, some thing other than just stand there and watch them get up. That's definitely the one area this game has taken a step backwards is the Finish the Fight and the Knockouts. Rework these and that alone will make this game feel WAAY better. I don't understand why you can't drop a couple more shots after you knock them out like in previous titles. If you finish them with strikes from mount, they let you keep hitting your opponent so why not when you knock them out on the feet?

I don't know anymore to be honest. I'm not sure if the marketing team ever revealed what GPD was talking about or not. I don't know if this area of the game is even being looked at anymore, its been a while since we heard anything about it. I really hope something is in the works.

I think Skynet referred to some changes being made but didn’t go into detail if I can find the thread I’ll repost it!

Personally I'm only interested in gameplay improvements as opposed to visual-only upgrades

                        Of course they're often one-in-the-same
