    Re: All official multiplayer modes

People also need to realize there are a group of people that are never going to like the grappling. Those aren't your potential opponents taken away if they add this as an online mode, those people are much more likely to quit the game within a month after release.

Holding back on these modes with online support should be a last resort, if the reasoning was actually fear of splitting up playerbase. Before that they should consider all the options. It's never worth holding back long term content for that reason. At the worst scenario make it a Play-a-Friend online type of thing.

All these fighting games have several multiplayer modes. Ranked,Unranked,King of the Hill, I dont even know all of them.

Anyway its more likely to be held back because they dont want invest in turning it into an online mode.

I dont need EA deciding for me which of their additional modes is a "couch" mode. Let me decide for myself what I want to play with my friends on the couch and what I can play online. Unacceptable reasoning if you ask me.

Not for nothing, but why'd they have to go and tarnish submission shootout mode by involving ground and pound?

Pretty useless anyway if its just going to be another offline multiplayer mode. All of these modes are useless if theyre just going to be offline because you can just agree with the person sitting next to you to only strike, or only go for subs anyways..

Waste of dev time even including these modes unless they're online.

I think they fear splitting up the player base maybe. But if I had it my way, all modes would be playable online. That way people can play what they want.

I hope you can create all of these via quick match online.

It really has SOOOO much potential for online leagues to flourish, Stand and bang = K1 League, Grappling = Combat Jiu Jitsu league. so on...

PLese bring these to online UNRANKED mode!

I really appreciate the devs for this game but I honestly doubt how many of the people that put these forwards as a couch mode, actually have people over to play these kind of games at their age.

Meh maybe I am ranting too much but I am just seeing modes I've been incredibly excited for, go completely to waste on me. Simply because the few friends I still see on a regular basis, have absolutely zero interest in MMA gaming.

They went all in on these modes giving them SnoopCast commentary and at best I'll get to fight the AI to experience it (I hate playing the AI).

The ground game already split the player base on its own, lotta people won't be back because of it and lot of new guys will just rage quit and stop playing when they run into it too. These new modes being online wouldn't hurt anything, there are more than enough people who care way too much about their records and ranked modes will always have enough players to populate them because of that.

I have no incentive to preorder or pay full price for a game when I already know I'm only going to enjoy half of it..
But if something like Stand and Bang mode happens to be online then I know I can have some fun with the game online without having to stress out if the other guys is just gonna shoot for takedowns and try to deny transitions to cheese the ground mini game, in that case i'd be happy to preorder, I enjoyed the striking enough in the Beta

Cant you just do that online too? Its not like you dont have a way to message or talk to your opponent online.

                    This.

This is the constant line I hear when people dont want it to be online. They argue that its tough already to get a fight after the game is out for a few months and this will only make it tougher.

Yeah, after dealing more than enough inconvenience, Sure I can..
PLUS out of like 200 people on my friends list at most only 4 even had UFC 2 or got rid of it soon after they got it.
I just prefer to play a random human opponent and not have to communicate with them at all most of the time. Mostly I tend to mute as soon as I hear all the static and music in their background, it's annoying.

I get your point. I just dont think its as easy as a choice as people think it is. Ive heard enough people online say "dont split up the community" that its a realistic concern. The last thing you want is people complaining that they can never get a fight simply because a quarter of the community is now only doing stand and bang and another quarter is doing sub only.

Why would it split up the community? Suggesting that implies they know the standard online modes are not fun enough for everyone to enjoy. That alone splits up the community more than anything. the fact that people don't enjoy certain aspects of the game. They get tired of of it and eventually uninstall the game to make room for a game they enjoy more.
Would be smart and help the games longevity to add more online modes that more players will enjoy because if you don't like the grappling mini game, your'e gonna get tired of this game pretty quick when you get to about division 6

Said this before in this thread already but there will always be enough people who care about being ranked to keep those modes well populated.
The people who just want to play for fun on occasion will at least have something to do online. They're not going to be the ones giving longevity to ranked modes or offering much challenge to people at the higher divisions anyways.

There are plenty of ways to do it in a way so that it is not going to split up any playerbase at all. Those devs are clever enough to come up with something.

I'm just going to guess that it was too difficult to turn it into an online mode or something like that. Which is a shame because this is now the second time they did that.

It is not too difficult, especially for EA Sports. And the player base argument is flimsy at best
