Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
I don't understand why someone would want to make the ground game transitions MORE complicated. They changed it to holding the stick in one direction because turning the stick was cumbersome and inaccurate.
If 90% of TDs are from the leg grab in single collar, my boy, you need to block that. You have to preempt them if they attempt it right after a transition.
I agree on side control. It's terrible. The new transition makes it less terrible.
Baby punches are a necessary gameplay mechanic for balancing.
GNP doesn't suck. It's awesome. Most people are just terrible. I knock people out from GUARD because they're so bad. They literally sit there and use side to side transitions while getting beat on. I have no idea why this is a common reaction between bad players. They think it's just because the ground game is inherently terrible, because they don't realize they aren't good. And when you illuminate this for them, they get super defensive because THEY couldn't possibly be the bad one.Comment

Literally don't care how it looks to you at this current juncture. It feels good and it's a viable strategy. Only thing that matters to me.Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
I had so few fights go to the ground in the beta (excluding the Khabib KO slams lol), I didn't really get a feel for GnP. I know there's still no block from side control. I got slammed by freakin Nate Diaz and he KOed me via elbows I couldn't block and GnP from positions like full mount took longer to break the block which I actually liked. Side control is everything full mount should be...hard to get out of and you can suffocate & hurt your opponent pretty good. I never worry about getting put in full mount, just side control...and that's just wrong lol.
One thing I really want is to anticipate subs and appropriately defend them. If I'm in position to possibly be choke by a RNC, I wish the defense was to hold you hand to your head. I think the timing based grappling system is not really ideal, I liked U3's way where you literally hold the RS to hold a position. This of course leaves you vulnerable to other things though.Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Yeah, that's kind of the key point.
If you accept that we couldn't do the proper solution (and feel free to be angry about that) which choice was less offensive?
Walk off KO (which does happen irl) or a guy pounding on a limp opponent with no ref intervention (which doesn't happen irl)?Comment

Having crap features and saying "balance" is not acceptable to me.
yes, GNP does suck.PSNID: B_A_N_EComment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Idk man i wasn't ranked the best but i was regularly beating guys in the top 10 in both games, i think when i say guys getting take downs from the single leg is the most common my opinion is probably accurate. If a dev has a stat to tell what the actual highest percentage of takedowns is for the game then please tell me.
-It's most likely the highest percentage takedown because people don't understand grapple momentum. If someone transitions into single collar, they are granted an extremely fast single leg grab takedown. You have to anticipate this by preemptively blocking. The standard leg grab takedown without momentum is telegraphed and easily blocked.
Having crap features and saying "balance" is not acceptable to me.
-That's your opinion. I think it's fine.
yes, GNP does suck.

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Yeah, I feel like I have different issues with the GnP than others though. It's just not very dynamic or satisfying. It needs to be faster but not more powerful in terms of finishing fights. I had to pop in EA MMA again today and they had the speed and finish rate from GnP pretty well, defending the GnP was pretty good too. They didn't have head sways but you could hold top opponents wrist. We needs those elements of GnP and personally, I'd love to know the fight is coming to an end by seeing the heads bounce off the mat lol.Comment
