For the sake of the xbox community's mental health and wellbeing, it's probably best that I not have access to Askren.

I still can’t believe Askren never got signed to the UFC. Dana is so petty.Comment

To me as a lover of sports games this is just insane. I can find awful Norwegian fotball teams in FIFA, or some 17 year old prospect no one has or will ever care about in NHL. Yet in UFC3 (also a EA SPORTS game) We are lacking a damn world champion, not to mention her entire division.
I think EA SPORTS is attacking this the wrong way. Sometimes they treat it as a "fighting game" and sometimes a "sports game". (UFC 3 is nowhere to be found under the category FIGHTING on PS4 store. It's under SPORTS)
But then they build the roster like a big arcade game, with lots of emphasis on looks, animation, and uniqueness, while half of the entire UFC roster is left in the dark.
we keep getting these patches that add 3(!) fighters here, and there. But we'll always be playing catch up. By the time we get our Zabit/Sugar Sean, or the ranked fighters like Blaydes/Emmett, other brand new prospects and contenders will be fresh in our minds. (Did I mention we are lacking a whole division?)
I wish they could do a few things to correct this.
1. Streamline the fighter creation process
Emil Meek does not need a MoCap. He's unranked and has a traditional style. I'm sure that a middle ground can be found to create him. EA could build Emil Meek with the moves, animations that are already there. And of course they have a better Gameface system in-house that could be put to quick use. I'd be okay with, say Rani Yahya looking as "bad" as Aaron Pico under here. If Emil KO's someone big, THEN you can add him to the "unique fighter designs".
2. More customisations and CAF space
OR....it would take the Operation Sports forum 20 minutes to create a CAF of Emil Meek, although not a very well representation, but that is due to the tools available. what about just giving us a gameface system that actually works? more CAF space and a fighter customisation that has more than 30 wigs? those pictures above is what creators here can do already. If we had more than 22 slots we could actually build the divisions up and put out more CAF threads, right now it's pretty limited.
3. Division and Champion customisations
EA is also behind the ball on divisions and champions. Right now it's Mighty Mouse vs Benavidez in flyweight when you open it up. we all know Benavidez is fighting Pettis. and why can't we see Mighty Mouse holding his belt, or assign an interim belt to anyone? and have a unification bout? Or move a fighter up and down a weightclass? They even have Cyborg as a NON title holder in BANTAMWEIGHT
Just give the player the option of setting things up the way they want it.
And treat the rosters like any other sports game and fill it out.
EDIT: I realise there's also an issue with audio; Bruce Buffer, and Jon Anik saying fighter names. But that's an issue they'll have to figure out regardless of this. Now with Joe Rogan stating he won't do anymore voice over. They can't have commentators saying hundreds of names, just as they can't in NHL.Last edited by MacGowan; 04-12-2018, 11:25 PM.Comment

Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
MacGowan that post is awesome and should possibly be its own thread, I didn't quote it for obvious reasons though haha.
On a side note, hoping the next patch adds a selection of Blaydes, Santos, Branch, Costa, Pedro, Font, Munhoz and Casey. I do hope Zabit and O'Malley make it in before the patch cycle ends but there's definitely people who needa be added before them.Comment

MISSING

The community doesnt know what they want. Look at the posts when this game came out. There were tons of people who were pissed that Poirier's hair was wrong and upset about missing tattoos. They want fighter specificity down to their tats. At the same time, they want a constant roll out of new fighters.
Given the resources, they cant have both.
The FIFA and NHL comparisons dont exactly work. Sure, I can find a player on the Norwegian team or a 17 yr old prospect on some junior league team in NHL....but that player will likely have a generic face. It will just be a name, number and some stats.
EA tried that approach a little with UFC 1. The majority of DLC fighters in UFC 1 were created through the CAF engine and people ****ted all over them. They complained that the roster fighters looked significantly better than the DLC fighters. So EA stopped using the CAF engine for DLC fighters in UFC 2.
So they likely could add alot of those fighters on your list to the game....if they could just use generic fighters likenesses. Just make a black dude with a big body type and random tats for Walt Harris.
But that isnt what we want. I can make a generic Walt Harris using CAF and Gameface. We want someone who looks exactly like the fighters. We want someone with his tats and his exact body type. It takes time to get that. Especially when the community is also demanding updates of current fighters in the game.Comment

Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
I find it interesting the fighters that people want on OS compared to other sites like Reddit/Facebook/Twitter. For example, Casey is probably not on anyone's list outside of OS and other hardcore sites. She also is a cut candidate if she loses on Saturday even though she is ranked right now.
Especially as a guy who wold loves season mode/manager mode/universe mode in other sports games.Comment

Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
Of course people want dustin poirier to look awesome, but no one complains that the john moraga model looks like crap. Because he's not that popular.
when I say I want them to extend CAF customisation, that would entail more hair styles and tattooes. Maybe you could add a working gameface for tattoos too.
In any case that system would work fast inhouse, allowing them to create quality models of lower tier fighters at a reasonable pace.Last edited by MacGowan; 04-13-2018, 11:19 AM.Comment

Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
People don't care about the norwegian team, nor the 17 year old prospect. they DO care about the depth in those games. The 300 most important fighters can look great. the 300 less important can be more generic to add depth. It would allow people to set up their own mirror ppvs and play it through. Or in the future have manager and universe mode. What I'm arguing is the same overall system as in the other EA SPORTS games
My point is that those players generally dont care if EA uses a generic face for those players. They dont care if he doesnt have his tats. So those players are easier to add.
UFC fans do care about that.
So while you may be cool with Mike Perry having generic tats and not looking like himself.....hundreds/thousands of people would have an issue with it and criticize the game for his appearance.Comment
