Re: The Complex Combos. People Aren't Using Them. I Think They're Too Difficult.
I have no idea mate. But I wouldn't be able to work out even the UFC 2 control scheme. I don't even want to make an attempt because it will hurt my head. Like I said... It's above my pay grade.
I'm just wondering if there's a way to not involve so many bumpers with the other buttons. If there is truly nothing even slightly better then I guess it is what it is.
To your original point, those are complex combos. They are supposed to be complex and difficult. I dont expect even the hardest of the hardcore to have them mastered after a month of playing.Comment

I think its fine. As the game gets older, I bet more and more combos are going to be utilized. Just like real MMA, eventually players are going to have to evolve/learn new things to stay on top.Comment

That's part of the fun playing against the AI, you'll see stuff humans haven't integrated into their game yet.Comment

There isnt and I dont believe its above your paygrade. I've seen the GCs bring up similar ideas before and the response is usually "What button would you use for this change"? The answer is "I dont know because moving one function to a certain button would likely affect another function."

The idea that they're supposed to be complex is a complete cop-out. Not everyone has the level 5 boxing combos for example but if the fighter does have them they should be able to throw them without having an aneurysm. Nick Diaz throws like 10 punch combos irl for example. Way more than 3-4 anyway. The combos shouldn't be complex when you're playing as him.
And the only guys that have the more complex button input combos are guys that have no trouble throwing the combos irlComment

Yeah, this is very true. I'm really not sure anybody will ever be able to play like the AI does though. It's able to throw different complex combinations at a rapid pace. I hope I'm wrong.Comment

Re: The Complex Combos. People Aren't Using Them. I Think They're Too Difficult.
Well I'd imagine you'd have to make other buttons do other things to make it work. They'd have to work and be intuitive as well though. And I'm not in the business of working that out. It is above my pay grade. If nobody else can... it is what it is. But I can't.

I dont have an issue throwing 3/4 punch combos. The combos I find difficult to throw are the ones with uppercuts because you have to press two buttons at the same time and I'm not used to that kind of control scheme. I also have trouble mixing kicks in with those combos but thats more because I suck at the game. Ive actually seen plenty of people mix in 4 strike combos with kicks against me online.
One of the reasons why you as a top 25 ranked player hasnt seen many of the complex combos was actually stated earlier. Good players will use movement and catch you during one of those combos. The vulnerability makes people (especially higher ranked fighters) more conservative when it comes to combos.
You want movement while striking? Well, I cant think of a better way to keep that feature and still have enough inputs for other strikes, defense, clinch and grappling. You cant either. No one else here seems to be able. Most importantly, the folks who get paid to think it up seem to think this the best we can do.
So it is what it is.
With that said, I do think its kind of silly to expect for people to have mastered a new control system within 30 days but to each his own.Comment

Nah, its not a cop-out. Some of those combos should be hard.

If they have to be like that... fine. But the explanation you're using is almost as bad as the one GPD used for why not much damage is done to a fighter who's idle (because they're rolling with the punches). If a mechanic is bad... just own it. I understand if there isn't a better option. We can't have a serious conversation when bogus excuses like that are used though.

here's a 14 strike combo... with body/head mix ups. Pulling off a 4 strike combo is already difficult as it is to pull off with fluidity. It's not realistic. Unless you were using someone like Yoel Romero. But he doesn't have the combinations anyway.
I'm okay with you saying nothing can be done. I made the thread to get an answer and I got it. I'm not okay with this lame excuse though.Last edited by Serengeti1; 02-26-2018, 12:18 AM.Comment

Re: The Complex Combos. People Aren't Using Them. I Think They're Too Difficult.
Diaz can throw long combos pretty easily... he’s now my go to at WW now because of it. With all the uppercut spam, I can just overwhelm them with pitty patty combinations.
Of course the animation isn’t there like you have already campaigned for but the effect is.
Long combos are difficult to master/remember though, it doesn’t help that the combo list is a nuisance to pull up all the time.
I would like the combo/view moves section to be online. Can you help us out even a little bit devsComment

Re: The Complex Combos. People Aren't Using Them. I Think They're Too Difficult.
Bro... I'm not talking about simple 3-4 strike combinations. I'm talking about difficult ones. They're barely ever used online at all. Period. I know what I'm talking about. You're barely an online player so believe me. The combos shouldn't be as difficult as they are either. It's 100% a cop-out. The fighters that use them don't find them difficult to throw lol. There's also a difference between kinda hard and very difficult. They're very difficult to throw with any kind of fluidity consistently. Go into practice mode and try some of the harder level 5 boxing combos and you'll see what I mean.

Of course you have 3-4 strike combos that are much easier but yeah. I just think disguising this issue as some kind of attempt at realism is ridiculous and inaccurate. No offence man but it's even more frustrating because it's become something several people are repeating.
I would also love to have access to the combos online though. It would definitely be something and much appreciated.Comment

Because there's a slight break where he goes for a bit of head control? Semantics at the end of the day. The GIF illustrates my point. I could bring out more GIF's lol. How isn't it a cop-out?Comment

Re: The Complex Combos. People Aren't Using Them. I Think They're Too Difficult.
The hard combos idea is dumb. This isn't tekken or mortal kombat. Combos should be free flow like they always been and with real stats for each limb not just crammed into striking power and speed. This has gone so much further from sim than anything. Nate rarely throws kicks but his kick speed is 94? (Or something like that).
Then the input delay that "doesn't exist" makes it even better. The beta was more responsive than this. I mean the community on this has to be ridiculously small when you can already run into the same person a couple times in one play session, even searching multiple classes.
This is not Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, or etc.Comment
