You have to be in the correct stance to the cage. It doesnt work like in UFC 2 from both sides. You gotta have your lead foot away from the cage and the rear one next to it otherwise it doesnt work.

Which is nonsene btw. I should be able to jump off the cage with both feet. I also get so many game crashes using cage strikes.
Hopefully you can circle out or have any kind of valid defensive option when backed to the cage after the patch. There's nothing you can do if your opponent really wants to play the phone booth game. I'm all for being able to corner your opponent and get in their face, I just think the defensive options are slim to none. Your only real option is to engage in the duck/sway exchange and hope to rock the guy. No matter what the footwork stat is, when your back is against the cage and you move sideways, the opponent is still right in your face, it's like you haven't moved at all. Anyway, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
"No idea. I think that one is a little lower on the priority list though. I hope I'm wrong and it gets added soon."
So it's not in the patch notes you read
I havent read any patch notes. I've seen GPD's blog but that only discusses the major gameplay changes. Adding an arena to other modes isnt a gameplay change.

Mmm.."the major gameplay changes", sounds very very interesting
