      Re: Ghost strikes

I've been talking about this. Its got me into a lot trouble too, esp since I'm pushing the block button and I still see my fighter winging wild shots. If so, it's one of several reasons why I beg for just having combo speed ratings instead of this.

A few notes on input and input lag (a topic I wouldn't shut up about at the in-person events):

        • The game will never throw something you didn't throw. If something comes out of your fighter, you pressed a button, 100%. However, something you may have intended to hard combo might queue up as a soft combo and come out in a rhythm you didn't intend. User error most of the time.

        • In bad lag, the game WILL drop inputs. Meaning "jab, straight, lead hook" will come out as "jab----lead hook" if there is a lag spike. It's a big issue but I'm not sure what can be done about it. Not user error. Definitely the game dropping inputs due to lag and very frustrating.

        • There's a frame leeway in place to allow the double-press uppercut command to come out. Meaning you don't have to press Square + X or Triangle + O EXACTLY in one frame. You can sort of roll your thumb and still have a few frames to hit them both. If you are trying to do a teep and a head kick is coming out, you're not doing the uppercut input correctly. Sometimes I'll throw a body uppercut when I intend to throw a teep, but it's because I'm not holding L1 with L2 all the way. The uppercut input will take precedence over single button inputs if done in a certain frame window. User error.

When I read the thread title, I assumed "ghost strikes" would reference the strikes that come out but sometimes do no damage. I've thrown body kicks that have ZERO collision (no rumble, no damage) but visually look like they landed perfect and same for my opponents. No idea what is going on here.

GPD has tightened up input windows on a lot of different functionalities. The head movement is a good recent example. It all comes out quicker and chains faster.
