The ONLY true way to BUFF Takedowns/Clinch attempts

How frequently you thought when you were played by grappler that now your TD/Clinch attempt will be 100% (you have top wrestler, 100% GA, and all 9 TD setups complete),... but the opponent successfully denied yr TD attempt?
    Why?!

B/c he after every his missed or wrong strike/action press and holded Grapple block (GB) R2+RS down PRE-EMPTIVELY. Especially now with easier GB input - when R2 is holding the most time of the fight. Pre-emptive GB has a pentaly on Ground, BUT NOT in Stand up. So even if he wil have 1 frame (1/60 sec) for Deny input (after ALL your ingenious TD setups and preparations), he will succeed EASILY by stupidly holding GB input during/just after his strike input = disbalance in risk/reward and skill deposit!

Devs made many things to buff TDs but i think it still does not help enough.

HOW to REALLY BUFF TDs and bring more SKILL to the gameplay:

    1st variant:
Very simple - just remove ability to buffering Grapple block input in other actions!
I.e. you can perform and keep (holding) GB - ONLY when you are in Neutral state (after strike/step/sway recovery end) and when opponent already grabbed you and starts Transition meter.

You will need to look/sense on your fighter and time GB input just after he for ex. returned his arm back after a punch.

    2ns variant:
Make it the same way we have on Ground - with Mistimed and Wrong direction GBs which forces a penalty and follow up by undeniable TD/Clinch. BUT in this way we will not be able to hold GB (constant GB), only click, so this will be an issue may be.

P.S. Btw the same sort of issue we have with MT/SC WHIP - from UFC 2 you can buffer Block during whip animation by simply holding it and when whip ends you gain Block immediately AUTOMATICALLY w/o any delay window = so, follow up Whip strike is alwyas blocked = Whip becomes nearly useless.
In UFC it was RIGHT: you can not buffer Block input before the Whip animation ends so you needed a timing and reaction to find the right time for pressing Block!

I dont know why the 2e variant was not here in the beginning.
If you miss a counter takedown ( like transition), you must be punished.

I absolutely agree that one should NOT be able to switch between denying Takedown and denying Clinch in the middle of an action.

You should be locked-out if you choose incorrectly.

Would also like to see Takedown Feints play a bigger role. You feint a takedown; they pre-deny/bite on the fake; you come over the top with a haymaker, good nightttt

I've never really tried to implement TD fakes into my game, I just assume they don't work well lol anyone have success?

I don't believe we can fake take downs at all? We could in UFC 2. Unless this changed in a recent patch.

I'd like to see a corresponding animation tied to pre-denying and it take a chunk of stamina away if it's spammed.

Not only that when you predeny it also leaves you open to strikes.

there just needs to be more instant takedowns, like the one where you get instantly taken down if you miss a spinning strike.

UFC Undisputed 3 had it right, hitting those INSTANT takedowns off of your opponents whiffed strikes was great.

I agree the free-double of UFC 3 is too hard. But don't you think the ones in UD3 were too easy?

Actually fought against someone recently who incorporated TD feints pretty well. He would finish it off with a jab.

                  They were pretty balanced tbh

When facing a grappler you cant be super aggressive of recklessly throw kicks or you’ll end up on the ground

Can you speak more on what he was actually doing? I didn’t know we had TD feints at all

Pretty much the only way I get takedowns is, double jab, single collar clinch, knee, then single leg. Every time I perfectly time a takedown after a missed head kick or something I always get denied then I just go back to my usual tactic.
