Still having problems with hooks ...even when I minor back sway . Seems like I'm still in harm's way . Will try harder tho .

Use major sways until you have your opponent down also drain them. Minor lunge back also evades hooks. Also if theyre throwing hooks its because your telegraphing your anticipation of the jab. Rethink how you use head movement. Use it for bait instead of defense.

Remember it’s major back sway. Block the first hit and then hard press back on the right stick to dodge the next punches. You need to recognize the pattern first though. Sometimes people will throw 1212 instead of punches avoidable by the back sway.

First things first you are probably getting matched up against a couple of guys you should be familiar with but ...bear with me ...I'm still learning this your ability to look at what they are throwing at you and adapt is your key to survival . Watch high level guys on YouTube like Ed Parker for striking , Romero XVII for grappling , martial mind for adapting , Ricky Jay to understand that's it's just a game , Dmart for sub grappling from the bottom .

If you notice they stand and plant and then come after you with the pressure ...If it's a jab , jab ,jab to break your block ...and pause try the straight ...it will often beat your opponent's double jab .

At a low level pressure fighters get away with a lot of **** but at a high level very few of them try it and succeed .

You also gotta know your fighters very well what's their most effective strike work it into your attack or counters .....go get a good grasp of boxing try women's bantam weight it's a lot more fluid .

Feel free to ask Retracted Monkey and 1212 head kick for advice . Also try to record your fights and see how and why you lost .

          All the best .

Thanks for the advice, truly! But that's kind of my overall frustration. In order to have fun, you have to be skilled. You have to watch videos, analyse gameplay etc. I don't have that kind of time... And it's kind of bad for me to say, because the reason it is like that, is basically that this an amazongly complet game.

All in all, I've played this game a lot of hours, but I'm having longer layoffs not playing, so when I return, an update has been released, and for some reason, my earlier strategies no longer work, or opponents are implementing new strategies that I have no answer for (at the moment, it's the takedowns).

I don't know, on one hand, it's great we finally have a realistic, detailed and continuosly updated MMA game. On the other hand, it's just frustrating the amount of time you have to put in it, if you want fun competitive fights, where you're not either dominating or being dominated.

Regarding forward pressure six-punch combo players. This just happened to me... I'm Marl. I'm facons one of these guys, doing a good job of countering and being efficient. He's throwing 150 strikes the first round, lands 30. I land 30 on 75 strikes. Eventually though he breaks my block and it's game over... Like, if you've thrown 150 effing strikes, missing that many, you'd be dead, not able to march forward like a maniac spamming jab straights, doubling them up, and then throw a six-piece on the inside that's impossible to evade due to speed and strikes coming from all angles...

They should be mobile, not freeze you in place

Parries are effective at stopping overagression but, along with the clinch, were poorly represented in the EA UFC games. I mean there isn't even open guard clinch.
They could just work like block counters and allow you to land first.

Yeah the block counter is great. It's a shame parries were implemented so bad, it soured most everyone on them.

Parries shouldn't have prevented the parried opponent from throwing subsequent strikes, like the gifs demonstrate.

The follow-up counter from the parrier should be blockable/avoidable as well.

Agreed completely. Just makes exchanges have a more realsitic look. Mistimed parries or parrying with the wrong button should leave you vulnerable.

Also adding that the button press for the parry corresponding with the strike itself opens up a few more options.

Bro ...it's understandable . Why not get of ranked and make friends with 1212 head kick and some others here ...who will take time to fight you on online fight now . Just ask them for their PSN or Xbox tag depending on what you are on .

There's more than enough help here if you need it .

I'm definitely worse than you . You don't need to throw 4 hit combos Everytime . Till this day I can't do the combo combo cause I often drop the uppercut . So I do what works for me .

Watch Ed ...chip ..chip ...belly . Lil by lil they will fall.

But get of ranked and play some other fights with friends willing to help .

Who did he use ? The game seems to reward players moving forward but they will guess if your strategy is to take drown them in later rounds . And you hit the belly . If some one is pressuring you they are doing something to break your block while you move backwards .

Look at what they are doing and tell us ...someone here will give you a counter for it . The deeper they are into walking you down the better a chance you have to counter . But will get rocked and dropped just keep at it . Keep at it .

Warning tho ...make sure a hit stun registers before you go for the belly lest you eat an uppercut thats the safefest body shot .just don't be too predictable or the will adapt .

Man, I don't know why these new guys always destroy any goodwill they were owed with a respectable and understandable first post by reverting to whining about the game's learning curve.

Seriously. Just because it's an MMA game and they like the UFC they think they're entitled to sit down and immediately click with the controls and gameplay. Fans of Dark Souls and Devil May Cry don't complain that the game is too hard. They understand that the difficulty is part of the experience, so long as it is fair (which, if it wasn't at launch, it most certainly is now for UFC3).

Honestly you dont even have to always try to block them

If you’re in body kick range you can throw a forward moving straight and intercept their kick. The guys that hide kicks behind their hands are tougher to deal with but that’s realistic
