Re: The Fall of EA Sports

I've tried looking to the eyes of a potential player and googled the game. The first thing that came up was reddit, where literaly the first thing you see is a Hitlerwalk done by a nazi CaF, a Chewbacca CaF, and a glitch where women wear thongs all of a sudden (I can't even... WHY are the textures even there?). It's like some people in EA are actively looking to get fired over this. Who in the right mind would've made this possible??? "Ya know what, I'm leaving for another company in 2 weeks. There's no quality control anyway. Let's have some fun...!". And then there's the glitches, but that's kind of unavoidable to a certain degree I guess.

What did you expect EA? When you clown around, you get a circus...

Better market to high school kids, as actual UFC fans will just laugh at this.

For the record: I had fun so far. Waiting for a patch to drop before I fully commit to it though...

They should be there, for the offline, to show that realistic depiction of the sport, but in online fights, it's like adding extra loading time.

Every UFC game I play online, I want to go from one fight to the other as fast as possible. I don't want to waste 5 min of my life watching those entrances, because my opponent started matchmaking and then got up and left to do his chores.
To be fair, I played hundreds of fights online in UFC 3, and the number of times I was forced to sit through the intros was probably in the single digits. It's not something that happened often at all as far as I can tell.

I don't really care to dip my toe too far into this, but I do want to say I don't really think publishers care about user reviews beyond the PR hit that maybe comes with it from people writing about it in the media (The Last Of Us 2 came up, and that was written about in the media due to a lot of the out-and-out bigotry/misogyny in the user reviews). They're bombed for just about every "major" release, and it's come to a point where Metacritic and the like will probably alter them in the future because they just get bombed day one even before the game is even played. It's a sad dunking contest and it doesn't really shine a great light on "gamers" in a general sense since it's just mob mentality childishness.

There is still some care about "critic" reviews, but I would suspect even that has changed in recent years since I don't think Metacritic is driving sales in the same way it used to. Also the idea that critic reviews are largely paid for is just incorrect, but that's a standard talking point for many moons so I don't really care to argue against it because peeps are going to believe whatever they want on that front.

Metacritic will probably start "altering" user reviews?
Not in America sir. Censorship won't fly here in America.

And stating that critic reviews aren't paid for and then instantly backing down was probably a good idea 😄 🤣

No, not altering in that sense, more just "delaying" when you can start doing user reviews. In other words, when people put zero scores in the moment the game comes out, obviously they haven't played it. Thus, their review is irrelevant because it's just something they did with their peeps to "stick it" to that big bad company.

Also censorship doesn't have anything to do with Metacritic. You do understand how censorship works and when it's allowed or not, right? Like, I can ban you right now and censor all your posts even though we both are here in the US.

And it's not so much "backing down" as it's not really an argument worth having. Almost no one has any idea what goes into reviews or the general concept of how a review plays out, how much it even means to a an outlet and so on. Arguing with a person with zero knowledge on the topic (you being one of them in this instance) wouldn't really make much sense. And I'm not even saying that to be mean, I just mean you clearly have certain biases that wouldn't really be shaken, and that's fine.

Man, you're wasting your time in this section. Those that still haven't gotten it, won't.

So you didn't really mean alter, more delaying. That absolutely would make sense for those scenarios you described.

When I incorrectly thought you meant actual altering of game reviews, I rightly mentioned that would constitute censorship. Actually changing reviews on Metacritic would indeed be a very strange form of censorship. Not saying it would be illegal censorship, I have no clue, but it would be a very strange form of censorship nonetheless.

Anyway, please don't ban me sir. Nothing but love for all yall mods over here. Just harmless pokin fun here and there is all.

Re: The Fall of EA Sports

Lol game journalism/reviews at places like IGN/Kotaku/polygon are done by people that don't even know what the hell they are talking about a lot of the time.
Reviewers at ign/polygon/Kotaku also tend to inject their personal political opinion/feelings into the game review instead of focusing strictly on gameplay/world story building.

Remember that dude that couldn't even play cuphead? Or that one dude that got caught plagerizing reviews? Or that lady that wrote the days gone review and spent most of it just ranting about how she didn't like the main character because it didn't align with her political views so therefore gave it a low score? Pokemon and "too much water" anyone? These are the people reviewing games and quite frankly most of them suck at their job.

If I am being realistic, a lot of the time I get my reviews off YouTube from more independent reviewers, they do much better quality in depth reviews and don't inject their stupid political opinions.
Or ill just watch some game play myself once it's out and go from there.
