Re: Input Delay Seeming Really Bad At Times? Way Worse Than UFC3

    Checking in to update.

The game has continued to feel great since my last post. I'm able to move how I want and my strikes are coming out as expected.

It would be nice to pinpoint exactly what happened for some of us to experience this issue and not others. I'm just glad I'm able to enjoy it again.

    Has anyone else seen improvement?

it's a huge issue. Fighting games are all about fast responses, and having responsive controls and minimal input delay is so important

It wasn't like this at launch, so I can't even call this right now. I hope they fix it soon because the game isn't worth playing in this state. Could this possibly be a PS4 Pro problem?

You summed it up perfectly. I can't trust my inputs to come out when I want

Yeah it hasn't gotten any better. After they released the first patch is when I really started noting it and it kept getting worse until it's where it's at now. Even with a brand new controller with crisp buttons and playing with usb cable direct connect only for controllers instead of bluetooth, the input lag is still soooo bad.

I can't begin to count how many slipped straights and slipped uppercuts I would have landed had the controls actually been responsive. They were fine at launch but they did something to screw it up royally and not a peep from them. Nothing in new patch about it.

Theres times where the block just doesn't work. So you just stand there eating punches to the face and have to lunge back. It makes countering almost impossible because you have to like pre counter the pre counter to adjust for the damn input delay.

It's horrible. Just to see how bad it is, go play one match of UFC 3 and see how fluid and fast the input reaction is, how quickly you can slip and counter punch, etc. It's night a day. Then you'll really see how bad a state UFC 4 is in right now. Some times it's worse than other too. Like some games will be somewhat "okay" but then others are just a disaster.

This is the biggest issue in the game right now.

Will EA UFC ever get away from the queue of punches/gnp and taking turns doing transitions? Without changing that this game will forever be held back.

Being able to freely move and not being held back by inputs or whos turn it is to move is the single biggest failure of this game.

Yeah I hope they take away the queuing. But we have simultaneous transitions currently. Its been there since UFC 3 or 2.

They aren't simultaneous though, not the way Undisputed was.

The more inputs you add to the game the more delay will be present. This isnt eas fault. This happens in all games. They added a clinch system correct? Thats partially the reason. When you add features you run the risk of losing responsiveness. The game runs at 30 fps. So when the amount of frames thats capped is lifted(ufc5?) The game will feel much better.

Hmm I dont remember.. how was UD3 simultaneous?

In ea ufc you can go for simultaneous transitions while your opponent does. For example for some fighters theres a transition to side control from full guard when your opponent tries to twist their hips.

Our whole grappling engine was built from the ground up with the idea of simultaneous transitions in mind. There is nothing stopping you from both doing transitions at any point in time.

The only things that stop/block transitions are denials, cancels, or when one fighter finished their move and actually changes the position the fighters are in. Even in that third case, if the transition you were doing was persistent and also available in the new position it will just carry on progressing like nothing happened. Such as with the half-guard, guard, fullmount transitions for the sub.

Why do I constantly have to reset inputs then? Or the laggy inputs?

Not sure what you mean by that, but if you're referring to have to move the sticks again after a transition completes, that's because the transition you were previously doing is no longer possible. If you had previously been moving to, say, rubberguard from guard, but the DOM fighter hot to half guard first... well you can't keep going to rubber guard from there. If you had been doing a persistent transition, where the move was still possible then the input can be held. There are only a handful of those cases, however.

                            Did you mean something else?
