EA Sports UFC 5 Trial and Deluxe Edition Available Now - Post Your Impressions Here

Played an event mode on simulation hard difficulty, accelerated clock. Here’s 10 thoughts:

    1) Dominick Cruz was referred to as former featherweight champion…
    2) you cannot choose refs in event mode, it’s herb dean for them all
    3) new controls are a welcome change and much better
    4) seeing judges scorecards is a great addition
    5) AI feels smarter, can’t really explain it other then that
    6) when fighters are introduced it’s clunky it only says their name no other information. Just sounds rushed
    7) classic camera angle is glitchy
    8) the third fight of my event was a 3 rounder and Bruce buffer announced it as the 5 round main event of the evening
    9) the co main event was also announced as the main event and made 5 rounds when it was 3
    10) new damage system is awesome, unique and really impacts fights

Edit: seems to be fighter combo specific commentary that was neat. They way they talked about Cruz vs Dillashaw 1 when I did my rematch and they way they talked about the diaz vs mcgregor rivalry during my trilogy fight was quite awesome

Re: 10 thoughts from playing EA play

Sounds like a mixed bag of positive and negative points. Nice.

I am following threads like this closely, as I am contemplating buying a PS5 JUST for this game.

That's like a $600 dollar videogame basically ...so I'm reading carefully.

I should note, I was not a big fan of UFC 4.
    :/

Yeah some of the negatives are presentation stuff which I’m assuming will be fixed (dom cruz, calling my last 3 events the main event). The lack of customization for event mode is frustrating.. we at least had 3 refs in ufc 4.

I’m strictly offline event and tournament guy so that’s where I’ll be giving my feedback

Even better, as I would probably spend 99% of my time playing OFFLINE too!

Yeah I mean for offline it’s definitely an improvement from 4 gameplay wise. But it’s the same roster which is highly unacceptable but it is what it is. Lots of great guys of YouTube show you how to make different fighters so I don’t mind that extra work

Not sure if they'll use here or the discord for character modifications, just as Machida has similar issues in that he is still a 'kickboxer', they've don't list him as from Belem and his lead kicks are all slow/boxer/wrestler style instead of snappy.

Thanks for posting. I hated UFC 4. Thought it was abysmal. Played it via game pass when I got back into gaming last year. Thought about buying 5 until it became clear that it is not a significant leap, especially after the team had three years to develop it. I’ll pick it up on a deep sale or whenever it arrives on EA Play/game pass in a year.

I am so excited for this game. It looks great. After all the changes, we should have a really great title on our hands.

My only question for you it, and I’m not saying buy it or don’t that decision is totally up to you lol, why do you mean by significant leap?

Just curious what you’re looking for in the game

I wouldn’t necessarily say that. I mean gameplay and presentation wise it’s definitely better then 4

EA Trial is stuck for me. I choose the fighters and when I attempt to proceed, it just gets stuck on the loading screen and never changes. Cool cool

Game is fun. The amount of blood is insane. The damage control system is very well done. The roster is pretty deep. Sure there are missing fighters but I will just assume they will be added later on via updates or DLC. It was a lot of fighters on here I was surprised that was in the game. The ground game has to be the greatest improvement. It is very fluid and some what fast paced. Body shots do a lot of damage which I like. The AI is pretty damn good too, already lost a handful of fights to the AI. Replay system is okay, which they had a photo mode though.

As a person who been playing these UFC games since the PS2 days, they have come a mighty long way. Graphically the game look good, some of these fighters look photo realistic. I give it an 8 out of 10.

The game is better than ufc 4, i like how the strikes seems slower, elbow+ elbow combo still very strong and fast in close range, ground game feels really clunky , theres no fluidity between transitions and gnp, i didnt try the new sub system yet....
but overall yeah its better but nothing impressive like ea ufc 3 in the beginning, i don't think ill buy it
