Re: UFC 97: Redemption
Its one thing for Randy to be able to compete at his age because he is a wrestler and has no problem playing the ground game and dirty boxing on the cage for the entire fight. Chuck doesnt do any of that and is basically a go for broke boxer at this point and with his speed slowing down hes going into the cage everytime with a severe handicap and its showing as hes getting his clock cleaned now.Comment

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
I see what you are saying but lets not understate his losses. Evans, Rampage and Rua are all the best of the best at LHW. Those are 3 of his last 4 fights. He's not a championship level fighter anymore but there is no reason he cant be a gatekeeper in this division.Comment

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
I'm beginning to worry about Chuck's noggin. He should retire, IMO, strictly for health purposes. At his age, he can only get knocked out so many times before it's going to take a major toll on him in the long run. He has nothing left to prove to the UFC fans, he's done it all. He's done a great deal for the UFC and its fans, it's time he does himself a favour and retire.Comment

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
A dude like Chuck Liddell doesn't need to be a gatekeeper, I don't think he'd want that for himself either. He has nothing else to prove in this sport, he needs to move on. Why risk more unneeded punishment? Chuck can still knock dudes out, but he really seems to have slowed down a bit imo. Chef brought up a good point about his style compared to another older dude like Couture.Comment

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
I hear ya but the way he fights leaves him open to this each and every night and if his speed has dropped off as much as it looks like it has, and quite possibly his power as well, then whats the purpose of hanging around? IMO Chuck is done, if he was to re-invent himself then maybe he can hang around longer but if hes going to continue to drop his hands, refuse to take anything to the ground and basically become a boxer swinging for the fences all the time then he needs to just hang it up.Comment
