This fight cinched this IMO. Dana knows he needs someone to push Silva and we're not gonna see that in the Middleweight division right now. I don't totally blame him for these fights, but it does kinda suck to watch as a fan. They're gonna set up GSP/Silva and hope that fight actually delivers.

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
I want to see Silva fight at 205 again. There is no one in his weight class on the planet that can challenge with him with the exception of Mousasi and Melvin Manhoef. UFC's 185 is weak for the most part. He'll be challenged at 205.
GSP and Silva would be interesting, though.Comment

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
EASILY the most lackluster and blah UFC I've ever paid for. That one will be forgotten and the sooner the better.
Chuck's done. If you don't think so, you are smoking the pipe too often....The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!Comment

I disagree... Okami and Maia would be a challenge if this what his stand up has become. I wouldn't do GSP vs Silva because all it's going to do is make one fighter look bad just like they did with Penn... When you think of Penn now you think of the arse whipping he got from GSP.Last edited by BSanders; 04-19-2009, 03:12 AM.Comment

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
Anderson is putting on "boring" fights because the guys that step into that Octagon are scared of him. Period.
They've seen what he's done to guys like Leben, Rich, Nate, and Hendo. When you bring the fight to Anderson, you WILL get hurt. And badly.
Thales got scared after the 2nd round. He didn't fight to win. He just fought to get out of dodge against Anderson, because as NOBLE said, his ground game, while world class, wasn't going to get it done against Silva, who is a BB himself. He had zero (or maybe even negative?) chance of winning through standup. He was screwed.
Someone that doesn't bring the fight to Anderson will always result in a "boring" fight. Think Lyoto-style. People are all over Lyoto's nuts for such a smart gameplan of not taking any damage, and yet Anderson does the exact same thing and people rip him. Probably because he put on an amazing HL reel for his first 7 UFC fights.
Well, whatever. Put Anderson in the Octagon with someone who isn't going to be scared ****less of him. Someone like Wanderlei.
Okami and Maia? Okami is a counterpuncher and he fights tenatively as well. Maia? MAYBE. Even then though, Maia's chances are no better then Leites. Leites is a good fighter man, he was just totally outclassed. Maia's BJJ is amazing though.. but people sleep way too much on Anderson's BJJ Black Belt.Last edited by XFactah416; 04-19-2009, 03:15 AM.Comment

Chuck needs to hang it up. His age is catching up to him fast. Not to mention he had the best intro song ever but changed it.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: UFC 97: Redemption
I think you can still finish fights when the other fighter isn't aggressive but to be dancing and avoiding going to the ground makes me question his BJJ Black Belt. I'll be impressed later down the line when he starts fighting better fighters and winning but I can't blame him for who is in his division. I still think Maia,Okami and Akiyama would give him a challenge or even a better fight than his last 3 fights. We all have opinions and that's mine.

As for GSP vs Silva, I think Silva would knock him out. I don't see GSP being able to handle Silva's striking.Comment
