Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions

After playing expert and getting better I decided to go back to advanced and see if I could get a sub. Seconds round of match two subbed Chuck with an armbar pretty easily. I got got on him a couple times blocked several transitions and then grabbed his arma and put him out. Subs should be no issue once people get the hang of them. I love this game they nailed the ufc, on the higher levels if you make a mistake you pay, you need need to fight a smart well rounded fight. Still deciding if I will do my first career on advanced or expert.

Yea I agree box. I think a perfect mix of difficulty would be if Striking was on expert, but subs were on advanced.

This has to be the most played demo I have ever touched. I could continue to play the demo like it is a real game, that is how much I love it.

I agree with the difficulty and I'd say the only other demo that came close to this much play time was skate.

Also I played a few more fights last night on Expert (been playing on advanced) and I subbed Chuck in the 1st round. I didn't even drain him that much and I was shocked when I did it. Changed over to Chuck and subbed Rua with a rear naked choke in the second. Subs never came so easy for me as they did last night.

Now that the frustration has subsided, I once again enjoy this game. Still can't get a submission but I did eat a knee to the face while going for a takedown. Don't think I was ever that excited over getting obliterated.

For you people getting subs, HOW THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IT?

I freaking love this demo, I've played AT LEAST 75+ matches and I haven't been able to get ONE submission. I've played probably 90-95% of those matches using Rua, with the goal of getting a sub and it just doesn't happen. Are you guys using stick or buttons (i use stick). Do you rotate it as fast as you can or are you just trying to do a nice rhythm? Clockwise or counter-clockwise? Nothing seems to work for me.

I've played the hell out of this game and love it, its a day one purchase for me, but this submission issue is pissing me off. I play on advanced, btw.

              There are a couple things.
              • Dominate position has greater chance
              • tired opponent greater chance
              • subs guys (rua) spin stick, strength guys (Chuck) mash buttons
              • Offensive subs are about tiring opponent out and dominate position
              • Defensive subs on a tired opponent yield good results.
              • Spin stick as fast as possible in complete circles

Who knows. I've tried everything, and on every difficulty I get reversed out of it every single time.

I have made Chuck tap with the Triangle from rubber guard atleast once a night, that is my most common sub. I have made him tap on advanced atleast 20+ times

                  Think of it like this.
Knee bar on chuck will be flat out almost impossible in real cause he is powerful.

kimora is the same thing, he is so strong the kimora SHOULD be almost impossible against him.

Triangle, getting caught in a Jiu Jitsu guy guard is in the realm of possible.

Flying arm bar, possible but unlikly.

Rear naked choke, possible for sure against chuck

I think Arm bar, triangle, and rear nake chokes are the most realistic possible subs against chuck.

Has anyone been able to pull of a triangle from guard?

To get them worn out constantly hold back on your right stick. After they transition rain a couple blows. Then block transitions again. I usually wait until they try to transition out a couple time and them immediate after they fail an attempt move to a more dominate position. Wait until they fail like 6-7 times then slap the sub on and immediately after clicking the stick start rotating the stick. The more dominate position the better the odds, so mounted subs work better than if your in the guard.

That is my most common sub on Chuck. I can't get anything else consistent, but i can pull off the triangle from rubber guard atleast once a night.

My bad, I meant mount. I saw in one highlight that Rua can triangle Liddell from the top. He grabs his arm and then pulls him into one.

Yep, that's just as easy as the armbar from mount -- just hold LB before clicking the RS and it'll do the signature triangle.

Yea mount subs have a much much greater chance. When Chuck panics and starts trying to transition over and over once you get the mount. Block him for 5-6 times then throw down the sub. Good night chuck.
