I'm just trying to get a fight to go to decision.

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I just can't stop playing this demo!
One thing though, I have a hard time doing well on the ground/in the clinch.
Don't get me wrong, I have taken fights to the ground and won, but I can't for the life of me get close to a submission. That's really the only problem I'm having so far.
It's crazy how different the fighters are. I took Chuck to a decision on Expert with Rua just absolutely tooling Chuck on the ground. I switched to Chuck and I'm having trouble just getting him off me..Comment

Oh crap... Rua had me in an armbar and I did a brute force escape and picked him up while he had a hold of my arm, slammed him down and it rocked him.. I landed in half guard and I just started dropping bombs on him and KO'd him. The slam animation was so cool.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
The guy needs to have exhausted his stamina bar that goes down as they perform actions. Once that's down, if you lock in a sub real quick before it starts recovering, you can usually tap them out pretty easily.

I agree too about the different styles. I love the clinch with Rua so I can throw those crazy knees and then switch back to Chuck so I can lay down the "Superman" punch.
I wonder what other specialty strikes some of the other fights haveI post the frog
It makes me happy
People get upset
It makes me sad

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I'm already getting sick of getting KO'd by Chuck's lame *** superman punch in the first 30 seconds of the 3rd round everytime when I land land a clean jab that should floor his ***. At the very least it should take most of the power out of his punch.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I found out tonight that I can beat the CPU on expert with either guy, but it's kinda frustrating due to the CPU's god-like reflexes.. I'm thinking I'm going to stay on Advanced from now on because I think it presents the best challenge whilst not being overly hard.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I finally got a decision! I beat Chuck by UD. One judge gave me a 10-8 for one of the rounds. That must have been Cecil Peoples. It helped alot that I figured out the ground game a little bit. I still cant pull off a sub but I transitioned Chuck to death.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
When I first got the demo I thought the superman punch was bad, but I haven't been caught with one in quite a bit now.
1. Fight at a good distance. When you're not working for a clinch you want to be far enough that you have time to react to his powerful strikes.
2. Be careful with when you throw high kicks. If you throw them at the wrong time you're hitting the canvas. He likes to throw most of his Superman punches and high kicks from this.
3. When you think he might throw a superman punch I find thowing some hooks to the body is very effective. If you're not in range for that either back up for make sure your that your hands are up.
4. Change levels often. If you keep throwing the same thing the computer is going to pick up on it.
These are all simple tips, but they work pretty well for me. Chuck is powerful, but he can only KO you if you let him. It's gotten to the point where I win against him on Expert much more than he does me. I can't say the same the other way around though. I probably trade with Chuck a lot more than I need to. I tend to go for my takedowns late in the round.
I also agree with Dakkon, advanced seems like the best difficulty to play on so far.
Lol @ Cecil Peoples. Whenever I see that I won a fight 30-26 I know Cecil had to have helped me out.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 04-24-2009, 06:02 AM.Comment

I wish they would make it so it doesn't show the judge's scores until they are said.Comment

I'd also appreciate tips that any of the good submission guys might have. I've only managed one tap out victory.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
Play with stamina on. Pay close attention to the stamina throughout the match. Wear the opponent down with leg kicks and stomach shots. Chuck's slams from mount with the opponent holding your head, from the sprawl position, or from clinch also do a big hit to the opponent's stamina. Good way to get your opponent to exhaust their stamina bar is to stay in control of them on the ground and block their attempts to transition to another position. I like getting side control and beat on their ribs with power knees. Throw 1 or 2 and then get ready to block the opponent's attempt to get free, throw 1 or 2 more and then wait again. Eventually they will get desperate and blow through their stamina bar trying to get free. When it gets empty, throw on a sub and spin the stick like mad. Another good way to lock on a sub is after you rock the opponent from a slam.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
We wouldn't have to play with stamina on if being winded lasted more than 5 seconds or if there was more of a cue to the opponent being winded on the ground. You can completely exhaust your stamina bar and you are back to normal in less than 5 seconds. No reason it should be like that. I've heard the same line about how good the guy's cardio is because he is back at full strength about 500 times now.Comment
