Man DAMN I LOVE this game. The UFC game on Dreamcast was one of my favorites of all time and this is destroys that one and all I have played is the Demo. I dominated any and everybody in old one and it was pretty easy to do so. In this one I can tell I have a LONG LONG LONG way to go lol. The ground game is nice and I still don't really know what I'm doing with it yet. This is one of the deepest fighting/sports game I have seen. I can't wait til the retail version to see all the fighters and differences between them. It is without a doubt a must have game.

I've been playing this demo like a retail game. I've already put a lot of hours into this lol.
I was talking to djwlfpack the other day and he mentioned how good the pacing is. That's not something that's been talking about a lot, but he's right on the money. I was afraid that this would feel too arcade when I first saw videos, but this game really plays well.Comment

The thing that makes the game so deep is the different attacks methods, counters, sweep, submission, transitions, transition blocking, clinching, muay thai clinch, throws, sprawls, on and on and on. There is just so many options at hand to approach a fight and have a game plan on how to fight a fighter. Like you mentoned a FOR SURE MUST HAVE!!Comment

Scored an awesome KO today. Shogun took me down but I quickly transitioned out of it and immediately after standing, nailed him with a left hook that put him down.Currently Playing:

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I woke up early this morning so I could d/l the demo (only ~525mb, thank you!) and play before I had to get to work.....WOW!
I really love MMA/UFC/etc, and I've been looking forward to this one for months, just like the rest of you posting or reading in here...I can honestly say I wasn't the least bit disappointed.
INCREDIBLE Game.
I've only had a chance to take part in about 15 fights so far..but I'm enjoying the game more and more every fight I participate in.
I won't go over everything that everyone else has stated here (graphics, animation, realism etc etc etc), there's probably nothing more I could add on that front...
But I will give you the best recollection of my most exciting fight so far.
The first 10 or so fights I was Rua (mostly because I chose Rua at the start, and I couldn't help but keep pressing 'rematch' after the fights) and learned controls as I went along (didn't realize there was a tutorial in the demo until I saw this thread!)...struggled quite a bit, but A LOT of fun. (I didn't win a single match though...
)
Anyhow, I get my fiancee (the patient, beautiful girl she is) to come check the game out before we leave...and I pick Liddell (still playing on beginner, cut me some slack).
Holy crap.
I pace myself, striking, putting together combos, leg kicks..etc. I finally (in my head...never got to the cards) 'win' a round for once...very fulfilling, exciting...
Heading in to round 2, I have some confidence...round starts out the same way, (thank God I'm on beginner, so Rua keeps it standing...hehe) trading well with Shogun....I start to stagger him a little..then an overhead shot sends him to the canvas a few feet in front of me. In the matter of 1 second I somehow...instinctively dash (forward-forward) toward him on the mat, hold the trigger button, and press punch...which launches me into the air, past any semblance of a guard he was about to throw up, and I land a punch directly on his jaw. Right away I follow it up with a forearm that knocks him clean out....and I throw in a few more punches just to be sure, before Yamasaki can get over to us.
(All the while my fiancee is telling me 'honey, he's knocked out, stop hitting him!' hehe)
WOW!!
In one of my earlier bouts, as Rua, I knocked Chuck down, but didn't have the wherewithal to take advantage of him being stunned on the ground. Although I went and looked at the command list quite a bit, I never once looked at what could be done when standing, with your opponent on the mat...the running toward Rua and jumping through the guard with a punch came completely naturally, and felt amazing when it came together.
I can't wait to get home and play this more, and I can't wait for May 19th!

All I can think about at work is how I'm going to finally submit that a-hole Chuck when I get home. Gotta get a solid strategy and wait for the perfect moment... seems like I never catch him unawares with my sub attempts.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
Chuck is way too powerful in this game. Me and my roommate have been playing this game like crazy and we're pretty evenly matched, he might have a slight advantage in skill over me. But anyway 99% of the time whoever's controlling chuck wins.
my roommate just found out if your chuck and you go into the LB clinch you can throw uppercuts that will literally knock you out in like 2 hits.
so not only is he practically unstopable during stand up, if he grabs u in a clinch 2 uppercuts and your out everytime.
Im still loving this game but damn Chuck is way too strong to be only 1 point higher rating that Rua."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
Yeah, like I said, my friend who had never played the game before and got just a brief explanation of the controls from me was able to go 4-0, all KOs, because he was using Chuck and would just get lucky landing a big strike when I'd lower my hands or go for a big strike/takedown myself. If I played him again today, I'd try to take him out of the stand-up game by catching his leg or arm for the takedown/clinch and just trying my damndest to avoid getting mounted... in the mount and standing are the only times Chuck will really tag you where iit'll be a flash KO. Wasn't aware of the uppercuts from the clinch, but I'll check that out tonight.
So yeah, I think that strikers will have a general advantage just because there's no such thing as a "flash submission" -- you pretty much always have to be patient and work for any subs that you get, taking the risk of getting KO'd the entire time. IRL, fighters will make stupid mistakes and get caught for a quick sub (rare, but still), but it seems as if the stamina meter or their ratings will win out in the game and they'll just break out unless they're ready to be submitted. We'll see if they tweak that for the retail... but yeah, that is a definite worry of mine... it's cool that unskilled people have a chance, but I could see it being very unrewarding if you learn everything about the game and want to play with a BJJ fighter but keep getting killed by morons swinging for the fences every time and getting lucky.Last edited by Stumbleweed; 04-23-2009, 04:06 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
