Just with my Dazzle Platinum that I got for $30 or so on Woot a while back. I'm not sure where that stuttering came from, but that's the first time that's happened in the videos I captured with it.

I LOVE those RS counters where you pull their hand into the clinch or take them down after a kick attempt.. so awesome. I'm definitely going to be a guy who works the ground game more often than not in the retail... so much fun to have all that strategy in play. I killed Chuck with a knee out of the Muay Thai clinch last night -- first shot after the whip and I just blasted him... that was eminently satisfying, especially because he had been catching me with flash KOs most of the night. I'm determined to choke that bastard out though... I'm going back at it tonight before the Nuggets game ha.

Worst KO I've had so far is when I did the little bounce up and down taunt against Chuck. Your hands are down by your sides when you do that, Shogun never had a chance.

I also miss being able to dodge punches and kicks instead of always blocking them. I'm not missing anything obvious there, am I? The only other way to defend against strikes is to catch them in the clinch with RS as far as I'm aware. The step can sometimes get you out of trouble, but that's not really a dodge in the traditional sense.

The reason I ask is because my friend came over last night and just pounded the crap out of me by kicking like a madman with Chuck -- won via flash KO every time... a constant barrage of kicks to the lower body, then when I'd block low, he'd catch me with a high kick or a superman punch. I should've taken him to the ground more often, but I was determined to find a way to defend against that standing, but obviously didn't have much luck. One square punch from Chuck would lay me out even if I blocked the other 15...
Why isn't taking that quick step backwards a dodge? That's pretty much the only way to dodge a kick. It's not like a lot of guys are jumping over low kicks.

Besides blocking, countering, and those quick steps, the only other way to really defend strikes is to stay out of range, either by being too far out or too close in. If you're getting hurt by kicks, stay in probing range and do one of those lunging strikes to get inside. Or you could try and get off a kick of your own first and use it to get inside. Or just eat the kick and try and move inside through it.

With Shogun, the flying knee is always a good option, too. Even if he blocks it, you're inside his kicking range.

Oh, one thing I noticed yesterday that I found incredibly useful. If you hit RB when you start a strike, it'll abort the strike, essentially feinting. I was having some good success against my buddy doing it. I'd feint a right head kick and then immediately follow it up with an actual head kick. He'd put his hands up to block the first but drop his hands when he saw it wasn't coming and he often wasn't able to get his hands back up in time to block the actual kick. You can use feints to set up all sorts of strikes, or to try and get your opponent to block so you have a chance to move inside without having to eat anything.

When someone is throwing punches you can use head movement and slip them. You can't do that or check kicks in Undisputed.

Yeah, but I was talking about kicks. There's not really a way to dodge a kick other than to get out of range.

It'd be nice to slip punches, but I just can't imagine where they'd find room for it in the controls.

No doubt, I read through your post too quickly.

For checking kicks I think on the next one they could let you click in the right stick or something. That wouldn't be too difficult for them to do. As far as being able to slip punches, I'm not sure how they could do it either. The controls seem pretty good right now.

Yeah, just taking the weight off your front foot to kill the damage of the leg kicks is mainly what I was talking about on defending kicks -- there isn't a way to block low kicks, but you can see them coming and make sure your leg isn't planted. The step gets you out of the way sometimes, but I was thinking a FN-style lean/weave type of move to avoid upper body/head damage without blocking... maybe the boxers have something like that.

Or what about tying it in with LB? LB + RB could do a little head bob with maybe a bigger head bob for boxers, while LB + RT could check a kick with kickboxers and thai boxers throwing an automatic counter-straight on a successful kick check. I think that could work well enough.

Thanks for the tip, i noticed my roommate doing it but he was doing it by accident. I'll definitely use it.

Someone start a match and hold LB,the left stick in towards your oppent then some punch or kick and see if you can KO them while they're trying to touch gloves.

You can hit them when they are attempting to touch gloves with you. Have yet to see a flash KO from it yet. Maybe a lower tier fighter would go down easier.

Got the demo today and man, am I impressed so far! The controls feel real intuitive, although sometimes I forget what I'm supposed to do in certain situations, lol.

I don't think I've read about this too much, but has anyone else gotten Shogun to do his jumping knee? I did it a few times and it looks awesome. Now, I'm not sure how I pulled it off, lol.

Oh, and I had a question about ground work. How do you get back to full guard and then transition into things like rubber guard? The tutorial didn't really show that aspect (or at least I missed it).

For the flying knee, you just need to hold LB and then kick from a distance (might need to be moving forward also). I do it by accident sometimes when I'm too far away starting a high kick.

Not sure on the ground question... I'm sure Phobia can probably answer that one.
