Got the demo today and man, am I impressed so far! The controls feel real intuitive, although sometimes I forget what I'm supposed to do in certain situations, lol.

I don't think I've read about this too much, but has anyone else gotten Shogun to do his jumping knee? I did it a few times and it looks awesome. Now, I'm not sure how I pulled it off, lol.

Oh, and I had a question about ground work. How do you get back to full guard and then transition into things like rubber guard? The tutorial didn't really show that aspect (or at least I missed it).

Flying Knee - Hold LB+Kick and then back away to probing distance

Rubber guard - From them in your guard - Hold LB then transition like normal = Press right stick down left then roll to the right

Transitions are the same.
Major transition would be say pressing the right stick down left then roll right.
Minor tran is just straight down then roll left or right, etc.

Transition blocking - Holding right stick TOWARDS the opponent.(Either left or right)

I just won 4 out of 10 fights on elite. 2 KO's and 2 Decisions. It seems that I typically lose against Chuck being overconfident in the standup and then getting dropped with a megabomb of a punch from out of nowhere. I'm really loving the clinch game with Shogun. I've been killing Chuck with the knees. Still no luck on the flying armbar though.

I've only used Shogun the past two days. I've gotta try out Chuck on elite and see how I do.

If you pause during a match, there's a combo list and action list in the pause menu that shows everything. It can be a bit overwhelming, so it might be worth going on beginner and then just pausing and looking up moves in the various positions you find yourself in.

I saw in the menu there was a 'practice' mode, which will probably help tremendously in the full game, but for now beginner difficulty and the action list is about as close as we'll get.

Thanks Phobia, one last thing i need clarification on. What is the difference in pressing directions when doing a major transition? for example difference between down left to right and up right to left?

he has the move because he's got wrestling for his ground style. the fighters are applied a template and then their signature moves are substituted in place of regular moves. they don't have moves subtracted from them.. doesn't bother me that he has it, he's a wrestler and could do it if the opportunity presented itself

This. I think the power in the slam would depend on stats. A guy like Liddell could probably slam someone, but it's not something he would normally choose to do (and therefore would have less power in it). I would hope/assume Rampage's slams have a higher damage rate.

Well, let's not go crazy. Sprawls happen quite often, and I've never seen anyone powerbombed as a result of one. The reason, of course, is all the guy on the bottom would have to do is grab one of the legs right in front of him to prevent himself from being lifted to any effect.

I do like these sort of 'touch of plausibility' moves, though. I remember Pride FC has a reversal from full mount where you could buck the guy over your head, roll with him, and end up in a boston crab, a move I feel safe in saying has never been done in an MMA fight before.

I don't mind games that are only 99% realistic if they use that leftover 1% to make the game more fun or give me a chuckle at something.
